So were do invulnerable saves come from exactly? Mark of Tzeencth marks sense, something unlikey happens to save them, but what does an iron halo DO exactly? and what about terminator armor? is it just that strong? and aura of dark glory confuses me too...

Terminator armor Fluff wise is extremely hard to penetrate and or kill the SM inside. unlike the TT, the 2+ is for good armor and the 5+ is from the Crux Terminatus,

And the Iron halo I believe makes a force field around the Marine. kinda like the refracter field in the IG codex.

Most invulnerable saves are force-fields or variants of such, some Chaos ones (such as the Aura of Dark Glory) are the Chaos gods interfering to protect their champion, some are from super-fast reflexes to dodge the attack (Imperial Assassins and Dark Eldar Wyches), terminator armour is a combination of it's robust-ness and the tiny shard of the Emperor's Armour embedded in the Crux (the skull symbol on the shoulder).

Some wargear actually explain it - Refractor Shields (turn the energy into light), Displacement Shields (teleport the bearer out of the way) etc. but most you're just left to assume it's an energy shield of some sort.

They come from a variety of sources.

Some from divine/dark power(Mark of Tzeentch, Aura of Dark Glory)

Some from powerful technology(Iron Halos, Shield Generators)

Some from insane skills(Assassins and Wytches Dodge)

Some because you're just too freakin tough to die(Terminator armor, daemons)

That makes a lot more sense!

The Crux Terminatus and the shard it contains generates no protection, it is merely symbolic. It is the extremely tough nature of Terminator armour that provides the protection. For example Chaos Terminators and pre-heresy Terminators benefit from the save. However neither of them has the Crux or a shard of the Emperor's armour.

No, they don't get it by any help from anyone. It's just their faith allowing them to keep going when they really shouldn't.
In fact, the description of it would be much more suitable for a FNP save. I'm not complaining though. With T3 we wouldn't get that FNP as often.

This. Here's a quote from the latest codex that basically says it outright (emphasis mine):
"The Sisters of Battle are taught that faith is a shield stronger than any armour. Such is the power of their belief that the Emperor will protect them that the Adepta Sororitas can shrug off the most severe of wounds and resist the witchcraft of enemy sorcerers."

Order of the Righteous Armour - 542 points so far.

It's curious of course how it works on vehicles.
