Five hours under the gun with some of the most pain I have ever endured outside of breaking both tibias. Well worth every moment, because this new tattoo is incredible. My fifth piece but this is the first one to truly almost push me to the full limit of pain I can endure (as far as puncture wounds go, I've done more with fractures but you get the idea).
I also finally understood the test of the Gorm Jabar in Dune while I was in some of the moments of highest agony. When the Bene Gesseret test to see if someone is human, they inflict incredible pain upon the potential human, with the threat of death should they move. The test is not pain endurance itself, but rather reason, discipline and will. An animal, homo sapiens sapiens or not, will flinch and seek to remove themselves from the source of the pain, netting themselves a swift death. A human being would know that moving would mean instant death, and so endure the pain to avoid being killed, overriding their animal instincts with logic and reason.
Random weird coincidence of the day? My tattooist Laura was not only my age, BUT she was LITERALLY born the day after me. February 28th and March 1st. The feth are the odds of THAT?
So let's see your ink Dakka!
