So I had this picture bookmarked, but I'm not sure where I found it, but I'd like some tips from some veteran painters on how I could get something close to it:



I love the stonelike armour. I'm pretty new to painting, or at least, painting well. What techniques should I be brushing up on, and maybe some recommends for colours that might be similar?

Looking at it i'd say lots of blending working and very watered dwn washes, as for the base there maybe some air brush work.

That figure was painted with an assortment of "advanced" techniques, mainly non-metallic metal (NMM) and object source lighting (OSL). I call them "advanced" not because they are hard, but they are more involved than say, the GW method of base-layer-shade. Here is some reading/watching to do to learn these techniques:

A lot of these techniques can be accomplished glazes or wet blending:
