I feel that Chosen have been left a little low in the latest Chaos Marine Codex. They used to be the armies infiltrators, using their vast experience to sneak into the battlefield and then burst out of hiding wielding some powerful weaponry.

I think having the Chosen represent that ‘experienced soldiers’ sort of idea makes sense. It means that the unit gains a little more purpose on the field and might be seen more often. Therefore I have started thinking along the following lines:

Chaos Chosen are some of the deadliest and most experienced of the depraved followers of a Chaos Lord. In the whole Warband, they demonstrate the horrifying gleeful destructive power that comes from 10,000 years’ experience of battle. They use their honed skills to specific and bloody effect on any battlefield they join.

Each unit of Chaos Chosen may upgrade every model in the unit with one of the following Special Rules at the point cost indicated.

Counter-Attack – X per model.
Hit and Run – X per model.
Infiltrator – X per model.
Monster Hunter – X per model.
Outflank – X per model.
Tank Hunters – X per model.

I think it's a good direction to take chosen, they're a bit lackluster at the moment, and giving them this ability both makes sense and would make them a much more appealing choice. But we need some prices to work off of here. If these are in the range of 1-2 points each, then yeah its definitely a good direction. If we're talking closer to 5 ppm...not so much. They're a bit overcosted as is, so making their additional special rules that expensive isn't doing them any favors.

I would very much like to see Chaos Chosen be more powerful / versatile than the loyalist veterans, as thousands of years of battle and all the benefits of chaos should be a benefit that loyalists cannot match, not the hindrance that seems to be represented in their rules.

Yeah, I left them as X's at the moment because I wasn't sure what would be suitable. I was thinking 1 point for most of them, but then thought that I didn't want to undercost things.

What about:
Counter-Attack – 1 per model.
Hit and Run – 2 per model.
Infiltrator – 2 per model.
Monster Hunter – 1 per model.
Outflank – 2 per model.
Tank Hunters – 1 per model.

Paying more for the ability to get into a more advantageous position, or to get a second charge on an enemy from good hit and run timing.

Not counter-attack, it would render MoK unviable. The others are fine.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

Monster and Tank Hunters should likely be 2ppm, and outflank and hit and run are 1 ppm

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Agree with the previous sentiment that Tank Hunter and Monster Hunter are worth more than Outflank. Infiltrate is worth more than 2 on a unit that can be your entire army (Black Legion/Abaddon).

Chosen are already good, just expensive. Making things more expensive and better is within the theme of C:CSM though.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

I suppose it is, problem is most of those options don't actually make you 'better'.
