I've always loved the idea of rippers, and think they're cute (especially the DOW II ones), but I'm going off topic.

I don't have the Nid Codex(yet), so everything I'm theory-crafting is from 1d4chan tactica, and would like review/opinions on it.

HQ -
Parasite of Mortrex to spawn new rippers/ be king ripper.
Dakka Flyrant to deal with Flyers

Elites -
Venomthropes to give Cover Saves to the ripper swarm + move up with them.

Troops -
Many, many Ripper blobs.
A couple DS'ing gaunt squads in spores for Objective taking late game as well.

Fast Attack -
Sky-slasher blobs with Adrenal Glands roaming around for light vehicles/ lone units.

Heavy Support -
Single Tyrannofex to pew enemy Armoured targets.

Basically, my questions are these -
1. Could this actually be viable?
2. I don't know the points cost of any units, what would this sort of list be priced at?
3. Would there be a better/cheaper unit (points wise) for Anti-armour other than the Tyrannofex?

Any other comments/opinions/thoughts?

Thank you

For the price of a Tyranofex you can get 3 Zoans in a pod plus some extras. Or (better yet) you can take. 2 Zoans in a pod + 2 Hive guard. The later being the better option for anti armor.

Parasite works best when hidden in a unit of gargoyles.

I would also suggest trying to add in another MC or two.

I think that a riptide would be very difficult for a ripper tide to deal with.

The list, as you are envisioning it, is not competitive, but the idea of running the Parasite coupled with some Biomancy rolling MCs or Zoanthropes with the hopes of getting enfeeble a few times is pretty legit.

Enfeeble is a malediction that takes -1 toughness from a target unit. It's also stackable, so it's not impossible that a standard enemy marine unit could end up with a 2 Toughness. A toughness of 2 means that when the Parasite kills the target, it's most likely going to fail it's toughness test and spawn some rippers. A 2 toughness also means that the lowly fleshborers your gants are shooting are wounding on 2s and doubling Marines out. Who doesn't love instant-death fleshborers?

Best thing about going this route is that apart from fielding the Parasite and his obligatory gargoyle bodyguards, the rest of your list can remain "competitive" in the normal senses. Tyranid psychers are already rolling on Biomancy, so now when you get Enfeeble instead of Iron Arm, Endurance, or whatever else you were wanting, you'll have a plan for it.

Don't pay for Rippers...spawn them.

Ok, so Exchange Tyrannofex for 2 Zoans + 2 Hive Guards.
Parasite in Gargoyle unit

What MC's would you suggest for an army such as this?

RE: Riptide -- yeah I suppose that would be the focus of the Zoans + Hive Guards... but then again a Hell-turkey could cause problems too

Hmmm. Which MC's roll Biomancy?
