I'm going to shift from my Templars for a little while and focus on my Dark Eldar and I was thinking of deploying Duke Sliscus with a 4 man Kabalite Trueborn. I was wondering if the Venom they'll be embarked on would benefit from The Dukes 'The Serpent's Venom' rule, giving 3+ for Splinter weapons in the unit.

Unless a special rule specifies it transfers onto a transport, it doesn't. What does a unit need to be/to do in order to benefit from the serpent's venom?

The rule verbatim is, 'The Serpent's Venom: Pick a unit of Kabalite Warriors or a unit of Kabalite Trueborn at the beginning of the game. Sliscus must be deployed with this unit. All Splinter weapons in that unit are upgraded to poisoned (3+) the represent the Duke's collection of hypertoxins in action.' So the transport isn't actually part of the unit, and doesn't get the boost, right?

Nope. They are separate units, except when calculating reserves.
