The release of Escalation has me pretty excited... I've always wanted to field my superheavies in normal tournament games... Now I can!

This is my "first draft" 1,850 list, using my favorite Imperials (Valhallan IG and Space Wolves).

Primary Detachment: Imperial Guard

HQ
Company Command Squad 165
-4 Plasmaguns, Chimera

Troops
Platoon Command Squad 50 (riding in a Vendetta)
-4 Flamers
2x Infantry Squad 120
-Autocannons

Veteran Squad 155
-3 Meltaguns, Chimera

Fast Attack
Vendetta 130
Vendetta 130

Lord of War
Baneblade 525

1,295

Allied Detachment - Space Wolves

HQ
Rune Priest 105
-Divination, Wolftail Talisman

Troops
10 Grey Hunters 195
-2 Plasmaguns, Rhino

5 Grey Hunters 115
-Meltagun, Rhino

Heavy Support
6 Long Fangs 140
-5 Missile Launchers

555

Depending on what army is on the other side of the table, the Rune Priest will join the 5-man Grey Hunters for mid-field psychic defense or join the Long Fangs for Divination support (cast on the Long Fangs or on the Baneblade).

The Infantry squads will blob together and sit on home objectives. The Grey Hunters advance with the Veterans and PCS to take midfield objectives. Plenty of low-AP weaponry here, allowing me to take down a variety of threats.

The Vendettas provide anti-air and anti- armor support. The CCS can clear small troop squads from objectives and contest late-game.

The Baneblade blows gak up. For those who do not know, it's main weapon is a 10" blast S9 AP2 with a co-axial Autocannon (making it more accurate). Baneblades are also equipped with two sponson-mounted TL Heavy Bolters and two Lascannons. Finally, there is also a hull-mounted Demolisher Cannon. Lots of firepower. Defensively, they have 9 Hull Points and AV14.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

You are just beying cheesy, to much indeed...

This seems the type of list i would just say "bad game man", and concede.

For extra stuff... take the big GH squad out, instead, put a bunch of Wolf Guard with combi-meltas in a drop pod, and make the 5th wolf guard to have a cyclone.

Attach the cyclone guard to the long fangs (7 Missils p/ turn), and use the wolf guard as Super-Heavy Hunters.

Also, change the platoon for another squad of vets, and put them in valks.

Also, its worth to add a Wolf Scout squad, if you think the wolf guard will not do a job.

Maximize valks, and maybe add some razorbacks for lascannons. I would drop the big blobs of IG, for extra vets, and equip the vets with plasma instead of melta.

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...
My take on Demiurgs (enjoy the reading):

Please, if you think im wrong, correct me (i will try to take it constructively).

Side note: don't listen to anyone that would say 'Bad game' for playing within the rules. I'm growing to love these new expansions very quickly and I don't even own a lord of war (Yet)

I'm with you there. Refusing to play with the Escalation expansion is just as valid as refusing to play against the Tau codex, lol (not that people don't do that anyway).

I have considered Drop Pods, but I do want to maintain a health ground force to support the Guardsmen in Chimeras. I may replace the Infantry platoon with a Veteran Squad to add Wolf Guard with Combi-Meltas in a Drop Pod. Wolf Guard will also let me add a body to the Long Fangs and Combi-Weapons to the Grey Hunters; both of which are great options.

The new list will be up shortly.

EDIT: List here:

Primary Detachment: Imperial Guard

HQ
Company Command Squad 165
-4 Plasmaguns, Chimera

Troops
Veteran Squad 100
-3 Meltaguns

Veteran Squad 170
-3 Plasmaguns, Chimera

Fast Attack
Vendetta 130
Vendetta 130

Lord of War
Baneblade 525

1,220

Allied Detachment - Space Wolves

HQ
Rune Priest 100
-Divination

Elites
5 Wolf Guard 150
-3 Combi-Meltas, 2 Combi-Plasmas (joining the Grey Hunters), Drop Pod

Troops
5 Grey Hunters 120
-Plasmagun, Rhino

5 Grey Hunters 120
-Plasmagun, Rhino

Heavy Support
6 Long Fangs 140
-5 Missile Launchers

630

Total: 1,850

I could only afford 5 Wolf Guard, unfortunately. I would really like to have 4-5 in the pod, 2 for the Grey Hunters, and 1 with a Cyclone Missile Launcher for the Long Fangs. Unfortunately there are not enough points available, and I can't see anything else to cut. Thoughts on this list?

This doesn't appear to be uber-cheese. Playable... Enjoyable... Defeatable by me? No.

To be honest you need something with Strength D if you're using escalation. Aquila strongpoint is great due to 2 S"D" shots but just swapping the Baneblade for the Shadowsword also gets you there. If your super heavy doesn't have strength D and his does you lose.

Personally for Escalation I think the Swadowsword + Aquila combo is pretty much the best thing going with 3 destroyer shots from 2 hulls though the Revenant Titan is cheaper and has 4 D shots...

Do you really think a SD Superheavy is necessary with this expansion?

Yes because if you don't have one and your opponent does you lose plain and simple. Plus Strength D is ludicrously over powered now that it ignores invuns EW and basically everything. An Aquila strong point will kill your Super heavy in one turn often, two turns nearly always whilst your Baneblade can't even hurt it.
