Subject: Confusion on how combat drugs work.

Okay, so Combat Drugs (Dark Eldar) have given me a bit of confusion. Specifically, how they work with independent characters.
1. If an IC without drugs joins a unit with drugs, does he gain the benefits? (I thought yes.)
2. If an IC with drugs joins a unit without drugs, does the unit gain the benefits? (I thought no.)
3. If an IC with combat drugs starts the game with a unit that also has combat drugs, and they roll Splintermind, does the unit start with 1 or 2 pain tokens?

3. you roll for drugs before deployment, so you would assign any pain tokens before deployment, and therefore you would have 2 Pain Tokens in a unit w/ drugs joined w/ an IC w/ drugs.
EDIT: mis-read the 1st statement
If the IC doesn't have drugs, he can't benefit from the units
and vice versa for the 2nd statement

No for 1 and 2.
Under Independent Characters (page 39 off the top of my head), Special Rules are not conferred between a unit and an IC that joins them unless the Special Rule itself says otherwise.

1. No
2. No
3. If they both roll splintermind? Then yes, the unit would start with two. I think this is covered by "Sharing the Pain", or whatever that rule is called.
I'm fairly sure that's right, but correct me if I'm wrong.

1. no
2. no
3. IC's don't join units until deployment. drugs are rolled for way before that. So if you roll splintermind then each unit that has CD gets a pain token. Meaning both the IC and the unit. If they are deployed together then the Sharing the Pain rule kicks in.

In agreement with everyone above, only drug users get benefits from drugs.
