hi all i havent been on in about a month and a half(lots of stuff going on).
i have been thinking about doing a samurai themed army for some time now, but the thing that is alluding me is which army i should play it as. my first thoughts were along the lines of chaos warriors, but i dont really want to play chaos warriors as my friend is collectting a khornate army.
any help is much apreciated

You could always check out this Nippon army book from the warhammer armies project website. Other than that I would be tempted to use high elves and have sword masters as Samurai, regular infantry as Ashiguru. Banner of discipline to represent the Sashimono's (if that's possible, I don't own the High Elf book), forgo the chariots and replace the bolt throwers with something more appropriate? My knowledge of the Samurai era is pretty non-existant I'm afraid.

wow thanks for the quick response , i did think about high elves as well. but im still debating. i also read through the nippon book but they arent really all that strong are they. also i dont know if my friends would allow me to play a non official book

i'll be honest i am gonna use wargames factory samurai and ashigaru yari and ashigaru bowmen. i cant convert models very well. my skill is at painting.

We're not GW. We don't care if you use their models or not Only the GW stores will stop you from playing with other models.

Most of those images don't work, and I was hoping for some painted models by you to be honest

There is somewhere out there. (i've looked can't find it.) a converted high elf samurai army I think they also fit rules wise the best.

But hey if you like those models go ahead use em!

im starting to think high elves , maybe use a loremaster of hoeth and lots of swordmasters in units no bigger than 21 strrong (3 ranks of 7)

Saumrai High Elves conversion I've not read the thread, just looked at the pretty pictures but it might give you some ideas. I still think high elves would be the best representation too. Did samurai have phoenix? That would be an awesome conversion!

samurai did have the phoenix but the kitsune were more common or definately the kirin

good find but it doesnt look very samurai like, my local gw doesn't allow gaming anymore so im not bothered about what make it comes from (although i will use the wargames factory samurai) im still debating on which army to run it as i kinda wanna say that i could play it as varying armies or ive got three armies to choose from one of those would be high elves . that leaves two more.that is what i would like help with. thanks for everything that has been suggested so far, but i would ask that it comes down to the gaming side rather than the modelling side. thanks in advance

Erm, what about the Empire?

Ashigaru are spearmen, outriders are mounted samurais with bow instead of gun for modelling purposes, greatswords are samurai with a nodachi and European made armor, now that I think of it...

You could do a later era army with guns and cannons, too and that'd justify the armor, as well.

Remember that samurai are still human, so you should probably look at a human army to represent them better.

yes samurai are human but this is a fantastical game not realistic. so therefore ive built on what the samurai are (by ephasising the greatest strengths) great warriors who are a bit very scary because of some creepy ass masks
thanks for the input though i did think about that but samurai in all fairness should be treated more like chaos warriors or maruaders because of the eye of the gods special rule ( it would represent bushido)

Well, Bushido's a code like another, there are people who follow it adamently, others, not so much, I'd guess.
