Recently a friend of mine has started to collect and play Grey Knights (both on their own and as allies to Necrons), much to my dismay and over my protests. As a daemons player are their any good tips or tricks that you guys can point out to help mitigate some of the Grey Knights's many rules against daemons. He hasn't taken too many super-anti-daemon items and rules (ie he doesn't spam dark excom) as he still has at leat Dark Angels and Tau to deal with.

I have considered a flying circus to stay out of melee, but as we play 1500 point games I will be a bit thin on scoring units I think. Another consideration is an Aegis Line and hiding Pink Horrors behind for a re-rollable 2+ cover with gtg or plaguebearers for a straight 2+. In this case I would likely take the Pink Horrors as they can shoot back, even if snap firing and a psyker power. I was strongly considering Nurgle soulgrinders to keep in the back field behind some ruins and terrain and just pie plate the crap out of him with phlegm. I would probably keep some big squads of daemonettes to keep the baby carriers away, as their rending is a special rule and not a gift.

Are their any combo's people have had any luck with? If it is too insurmountable, I may just have to switch to CSM or at least include some CSM to handle anything that gets too close.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a GK player, and sadly for me, Demons are actually a tough matchup with the new codex. Throw a few waves of Daemonettes at anything GK, aside from a Land Raider or Storm Raven, and you will kill it. Rending is the bane of expensive GKs. Just keep your multi-wound expensive models away from them, as they will force weapon you down real fast. Also make sure you get the charge; if he charges you, Psyk out Grenades will make sure you strike at I1, and you definitely don't want that. Pink Horrors don't really scare me as GK, since I can deny your shooting on a 5+, and Nurgle Demons higher Toughness doesn't bother me thanks to Hammerhand.

I'll have to check again, but I think Psyk out Grenades work even when you are charged The less models you have with multiwounds the better of you are seekers and Daemonettes work really well.

Psyk-out are on the charge only. Honestly, Daemons are one of the best armies in the game, despite the various small little tricks that Grey Knights have against them these matchups should give you little trouble.

Yes, GK have various small tricks, but that is because they are otherwise so poorly geared to fight Daemons.

They have AP3 melee weapons, useless against the 5++ Daemons, and PA that is Hellbladed or Rended to bits.

The actual good models in the GK codex these days aren't actually GK, there really isn't a lot of stuff to worry about.

hey what time is it?

Mhm, short of the Dreadknight and psybolt spam Grey Knights aren't that adept at killing daemons sadly enough. They don't have the weight of attacks nor WS/BS to fully utilize their preferred enemy against daemons and are very vulnerable given their high points cost to the many ways Daemons can bypass their defenses. MC tear through most of their squads like tissue paper and they still need to wound normally on 6's to even attempt to use their force weapons on you (since most squads can't activate them and use hammerhand at the same time).

Thanks very much guys. This has done a great deal to allay my fears of Grey Knights.

Honestly the only time I can think of that would really be difficult is if you are playing tzeentch with a focus on heralds. The enemy is getting a 5+ or 4+ save against you most of the time.
