I have approx 3000pts of Ogre Kingdoms and barring a few final possible choices (man eaters and sabretusks mainly), I am pretty much done with this army.

Thus my thoughts are turning to my next possible project. I have two armies for 40K already (eldar and chaos marines) so no desire to start a third.

I am thinking of a second wfb army but want it to be as different in play style to the ogres as possible. Therefore they need to be able to do at least some of the following:

- Decent amount of semi accurate or accurate shooting
- Mid-high initiative values
- Potential for decent armour saves
- Fast moving units would be nice but not essential as the Ogres are pretty speedy
- Wider range of tactics available than charging forward to hit stuff which is where the Ogres excel

I am open to options but am not really interested in the Dwarfs, Bretonnians, Skaven or Orcs and Goblins.

Let's hear your thoughts dakka!

Dark elves perhaps? They are relatively quick both in movement phase and initiative phase, and they have quite good shooting with those repeater crossbows. Plus, it's hard to get more different from an ogre than a tiny elf. (High elves are probably equally as valid under your stipulations and wood elves too if you're feeling the challenge).

I was going to recommend Dark Elves as well. Quick, plenty of shooting (but no cannons), frail but powerful to give you a huge change of pace. Lots of different toys to play with. Armor isn't a strength, but you can get cold one knights to get your armor fix at least.

High armor, high initiative and tactical diversity rarely combine, but some form of elf army that lives outside of forests and focuses on heavy cav should provide a decent mix of all three.

HIgh elves or Dark Elves.

Both can bring High armor saves.

High elves-Silver Helms dragon princes.
Dark Elves- Corsairs Cold one Knights

They are elves so initiative is no problem.

Both can bring lots of shooting
HE-Archers, Seaguard, chariots, Shadow Warriors, Reavers, Sisters, Boltthrowers, Skycutter boltthrower all BS 4 and up
DE-Darkshards, corsairs, Chariot boltthrower, Shades, Dark riders, bolt throwers, ALL BS 4.

Both armies can do more than run forward and smack face. However since yoyu seem to want an army with the ability to redeploy quickly you probably want HE as Walk between world and their movement mean that you can create many dilemmas for your opponent.

HE or DE are the obvious answer here.

HE can have Core heavy cav, so they can potentially have better armor saves.

Both books are relatively new and have some good builds.

You can't go wrong.

I think I'd say HE though. A lot of new DE players around, it would make for some fun battles.

Playing: Droids (Legion), Starks (ASOIAF), BB2
Working on: Starks (ASOIAF), Twilight Kin (KoW). Droids (Legion)

HE or DE as everyone is already saying.
Empire might also be worth looking at.

This is the only real answer! Chaos Dwarfs are a joy to build, paint and play! And they can kick some serious arse too

High elves or dark elves do seem to be the way to go. I would like to see the new wood elf book if and when they get done though.

I have a friend who plays high elves but we don't play often and when we do I could use ogres so it's OK.

I do really like the dark elves fluff and models too, just a shame about the price of the witch elves.

Pretty sure sisters of avelorn and shadow warriors (the closest comparison I could find) weren't this much were they?

Empire? They've certainly got the shooting thing in the bag well enough, and they can take several units with plat armor which means they can do the armored thing as well. Given that you can take knights as core units, you certainly have speed options, and with their staggering array of regular infantry, there are a bunch of different tactics you can go for.

That is another option. I have a friend who has seven different wfb armies so I think some army borrowing is in order to help my choice!

Yeah, Empire is basically the 'go to' second army that will solve all your army ADD needs.
