Ladies and gents sit own as I spin a little tale before my question. Now I hate to cart anything expensive I don't need with me to every game, just the kinda guy I am, so I printed out the relevant rules for Be'Lakor's dataslate and took them to our local game store to play. once there one my opponents brings up that while he doesn't mind this in a friend game it would be a no go at tournaments. This brings me to my question to you all. Whether or not he was right on that. Would a GT require that I bring my kindle, ipad, etc to use a dataslate or formation's rules or would a print out suffice?

At NOVA at least, a print-out would be fine if it was entirely printed out (at least right now). Responses on this are sure to vary.

It's also possible by NOVA (august) or even Adepticon (april) GW will slap together a Codex: Dataslate and sell it as a book.

As always, the answer to these kinds of questions depends entirely on the tournament you are attending. Ask that tournament organizer, and you will get your answer for that tournament.

I am locking this thread because frankly we have too many 40k tournie freak-out threads popping up due to the new rules.

Please make every attempt to post your comments/questions into existing threads already talking about similar topics.

Thanks.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!
