Subject: My CSM Fluff: The Rusted Legion

So I got really bored at work and thought up of this background fluff for my Nurgle CSM army that I'm currently working on. It's a bit of a read, so bear with me Quick summary: The Rusted Legion is a force splintered off of a larger Iron Warriors warband, The Tempered Marauders. The Legion was founded, and is controlled, by a powerful Sorcerer of Nurgle known only as the Blightsmith. Backstory: The Tempered Marauder's leader was a powerful, hammer-wielding champion by the name of Lord Validus. All forces of Iron Warriors origin are masters at siege warfare, with the Marauders being no exception to this fact. Validus sought a powerful bio-weapon that could infiltrate and destroy any opposition within the confines of bunkers and fortresses that the warband encountered frequently in battle, so he recruited a mysterious ex-apothecary to help him perfect his ultimate weapon. The Tempered Marauders, like all Iron Warriors warbands, are chaos-neutral and prefer powerful weaponry and siege tactics to daemonic mutation and supernatural powers granted by the gods of chaos. Because of this, Validus insisted upon a man-made plague rather than a weapon derived from the chaotic forces of the Warp. To Validus, relying on the aid of a higher power would be a sign of weakness, and his strength would surely be questioned among his peers. The ex-apothecary was given the title of "Blightsmith", and created many diseases and toxins to use as potential weapons. However, none were to Validus' liking. Even the most powerful of his manufactured plagues did not meet his Lord's expectations. The Blightsmith eventually realized that Validus was seeking something from far beyond the realm of mortals and turned to the powers of the Lord of Decay himself, the chaos god Nurgle. In doing so and accepting Nurgle's blessings, the Blightsmith became a Sorcerer of Nurgle. Initially outraged at the transformation, Validus was quickly impressed by the powers of his new Sorcerer and decided to allow him to continue his mission of creating an ultimate bio-weapon. However, Validus was not the only one to be influenced by the Blightsmith's new powers; many members of the Marauders saw an opportunity for power and chose to become followers of the Blightsmith's path, along with making modifications to thier power armor, such as adding gas mask-like augments and emblems of Nurgle to thier shoulderpads. As the Blightsmith grew in influence and gained more disciples, he abandoned his Lord's quest and started to build his own army, which would be used in the near future to overthrow Validus and rule the warband. The Blightsmith's followers dubbed themselves "The Rusted Legion", as they willingly rusted their armor as an attempt to disgrace the Iron Warrior's core belief of self-preserverance and tenacity. Lord Validus, long suspicious of this treachery, heard of this plot and led the first strike, starting a lengthy war between the Marauders and the Legion. Met at a long and bloody stalemate between both sides, the Blightsmith turned to chaos once more in order to further increase his power. He was met with even more blessings of Nurgle, in the form of further mutations and increased psychic mastery, as well as daemonic visions. In these visions, the Blightsmith saw an opportunity to be bestowed with the greatest gift chaos could offer, the honor of becoming a Daemon Prince, if he were to spread Nurgle's blight throughout the galaxy. Realizing that his increased powers alone could not turn the tide of the war, the Blightsmith decided to share some of his newfound "gifts" with his entire Legion. After recieving these "gifts", all of the Blightsmith's men quickly decayed into withered husks and fell under the Blightsmith's direct control through his powerful psychic powers. Now commanding an army of walking corpses incapable of feeling fear or pain, the Legion crushed the Marauders and the Blightsmith himself both confronted and killed his former Lord, taking his hammer as a trophy and inheriting it as his weapon of choice. Victorious and with an undead army at his command, the Blightsmith continues to travel and terrorize the galaxy in his quest to earn his dark master's favor. The thought process behind the army is that I wanted to make a Nurgle-themed force of Chaos Space Marines that's not a Death Guard army, and instead of the usual green and brown I want to use rust effects for the marines, like shown in this tutorial: http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2011/05/hobby-easy-rust-effects.html I also want to use Typhus, but everyone and their dog uses him, so I wanted to put my own spin on him. I was thinking of using the Typhus model but keeping the Iron Warriors theme by replacing the head, turning his hive/bone growths into exhaust pipes or something, and changing his scythe to a hammer. However I have absolutely no idea how to go about doing such things, as I suck at converting . Thoughts or suggestions?

Great stuff! Truly great stuff! As for the Typhus conversion that sounds like he will turn our really cool and maybe purchase and exacto knife set for the conversions.

And now that I think about it, I'm not sure this is the right forum for this...
I'm not seeing an option to delete a thread or to move it, so I'm assuming a mod has to do it.
Sorry!

Dakka Fiction would be better, I think. Click the little yellow triangle in the top right of your post and ask a mod to move it.
