So at a tournament last weekend I played against a guy who had two drop podding RP that did the most damage of the three opponents I had that day - all with JOTWW. WTF! My list consists of 3 units of 6 wraiths, 1 destroyer lord and three annihilation barges (plus 4 scythes with warriors but they're unaffected by JOTWW). So knowing that what is the best possible deployment to mitigate the 2 lines of death? Circles? Arcs? Line up along board edge corners?

You spent 720 points of your list on Wraiths, then went up against an opponent with a good counter. I'm not sure why you're surprised that this would happen...

Necrons are Allies of Convenience with Grey Knights. Standard Grey Knights get Warp Quake, which makes life very unpleasant for deep striking models. Including a unit or two would be a pretty cheap way to defend against this sort of thing.

As a Drop Podding Space Wolves player - my worst enemy is model placement. If you placed your models in such a way that any Jaws line is only going to touch one or two models, you should be great. The Jaws line is also 24" and only as wide as a thread after all. Most of the players in my store, Necron and non-Necron alike have managed to play around my Jaws with great effect.

I'm not really surprised as much as thought someone else may have come up with better tactics than I did. I like the GK idea (especially since I happen to have a but load of GK, anyway). I ended up dropping down to three flyers with warriors and lose three wraiths but that's ok since I could squeeze in a 10 man strike squad with a cheap inq + servo skulls. I should be able to generate a pretty big bubble if I combat squad them.

Yeah I was able to mitigate it by making a big arc. He was able to hit two in two units and naturally I blew my rolls :( Still when close to one third of your primary attack force gets wiped by one or two dudes kinda makes for a depressing day.

*smacks forehead* Yes, of course, you're right -- buy a single 10-man squad and combat-squad them. I don't know why I thought that GK didn't have that ability.

Since you're getting a full-size squad, you might consider psybolt ammo for them. I'd probably just stick with a pair of psycannons, though.

Spyders with Gloom Prisms are also not bad if you have a use for them. In a Rune Priest heavy meta, I'd prolly go out of my way to find a use for one in my list (such as a small scarab farm).

The gloom prism only has a 3" range...

Better than a no inch range, just think of it as a baby KFF that only works against psykers

OK

I'm pretty sure jaws doesn't affect jump infantry, which wraiths are.

Yeah, I was considering that. In another list I run I attach Obyron to three spiders and feed a 10 scarab unit for two turns before jumping somewhere with the spiders in tow and assaulting. Figuring the pods will come in on turn 1 I'd only have to be bunched up for one turn...

Yep, that was my thought - give 'em psyammo. The downside to combat squading is one unit will only be LD8.
