So here is my 1850 list...I play in a pro-fw environment and there's a tournament coming soon which allows FW.

So..the list.

So the idea is to have the RP/GH in the proteus and use it to protect my harder hitting things turn 1 and stop the deathstar powers. The hornets and sicarans hopefully can chip away at riptides and wraith knights.

Would it work?

I would say that you have 4 units that can score, which isn't a lot in a 1850 army.

Also a tank line will probably weak this because of your lack of AT.
