What's the best way to take these units out with inquisition? Especially the WK.
CC units seem to do best but I can't close when rest of the army shoots me down. And LRs are so expensive.
A shooty option perhaps?

Force weapons are an option on both, although you'll have to jump through a lot of loops.
Jaws is always something to consider, there are always good targets on the field. Riptides being very vulnerable.
I think the best way is just ap2 weaponry. Theres no easy way to take down a riptide but when you force a nova charge each turn and break their 2+ armor it'll go down eventually. Same with the knight.
It's a different situation when you face 3 tides, but another option is to set up your army to ignore them. This means MSU/No infantry on foot
Although the best advice is this:
Try to do something powerful and synergistic within your own army while still having a game plan for the various popular armies around.
Trying to counter every single little thing will result in a very poor and unfocused army.

Give up now. There's no way you're going to kill a 300+ point MC without spending points. Riptides cost ~200 and can take 1000+ points of sniper and poisoned shooting, so what makes you think you can plop down 100 points and kill a Wraithknight?

Land Raiders also cannot be destroyed as quickly as infantry by Riptides. Go LR. AV14 is actually pretty useful this edition.

Yes, Jaws is a great way to kill Tides.
As a chaos Player I just tend to drown them in Zombies, I've tied 2-3 Tides in one game for 4 turns. By the time they could get out of CC the Tau player had nothing else on the board.
The most effective way to killing both units is simply outlast them. Ignore them until you can effectively charge them with something ( TH/ SS Termintors) or use a heavy amount of high str ap2. I always walk around with Tri Las Predators for that reason. Focusing 9 Lascannons on 1 target usually ends with me severely injuring one per turn or out right killing one per turn. On a side note, if you're like me a total jerk, use puppet Master

It most definitely does - I saw 3 Riptides get Jaw's off the board turn 1 in a tournament last week. Pretty rough when 8:30 on a Sunday morning that happens - the SW player seized btw.

I can't see in jaws where jet are listed as affected, I know jet mc are not a unit type but what takes precedence, jet or mc?

Jetpack Monstrous Creatures are Monstrous Creatures, which are affected by Jaws. They're not a separate unit type -- just a modified version of an existing type. Since the modification doesn't explicitly exempt them from Jaws, and Jaws says it affects MCs (albeit at +1 to their initiative test), Jaws works against them.

Wouldn't jaws need to explicitly state it needs to affect jump in order to work? Since a jmc is both jump and a mc that unit type UN mc?

No, it wouldn't. Jaws says it affects monstrous creatures. The Riptide is a monstrous creature. If being a Jet Pack Monstrous Creature were sufficient to provide immunity, it would say so. It does not.

You may want to consider that the Space Wolves FAQ specifically mentions Jetbikes and Artillery as being subject to JotWW. Jetbikes follow all rules for bikes, just as jump/jet infantry follow all rules for infantry.
That said, you're welcome to play the game however you like. Enjoy your games!

For what it's worth, that's an answer to a Frequently Asked Question, not addendum or errata. The fact that they're saying it affects jetbikes (in addition to the bikes in the original rule) would indicate that it also affects jump/jet infantry in addition to infantry and jump MC in addition to MC. They're not re-writing the rule in that FAQ question, they're clarifying that it applies to subsets of the troop type in addition to the troop type. Between the rule and the FAQ, it's pretty clear that in both RAW and RAI, it affects Riptides.

Killing 50% of your points worth in one turn is as good as it gets.
This works especially well when under void shields.

I killed a Wraithknight with death cult assassins, crusaders, 2 ministorum priests (one with maul) and 2 inquisitors. Cotreaz cast hammerhand, the other with rad grenades. So +1Str and -1 Toughness makes things much more manageable.
1st priest used war hymns to smash.
2nd priest used war hymns to reroll failed armor and invul saves.

Force weapons work wonders and aren't really hard to get into combat against them. A single round of combat should more than do the trick and you should be swinging at them on turn two, turn 3 if they manage to run far enough away.
