Hangin' with Gork & Mork

The Guardian is reporting that Peter O’Toole has died at the age of 81, according to his agent. O’Toole had reportedly been suffering from a long illness. Famed for being part of a lion’s den of tough, proudly boozy actors with Richard Harris and Richard Burton, the hardy O’Toole survived a bout with cancer in the 1970s that forced the removal of his pancreas and a large part of his stomach, yet recovered and soldiered on to some of the best roles of his career—including 1980’s The Stunt Man, 1982’s My Favorite Year, and 2006’s Venus, all of which added to a record-setting list of Oscar nominations without wins that had begun with his breakout performance in David Lean’s Lawrence Of Arabia. O’Toole officially retired from acting only last year, issuing a statement that read, “It’s my belief that one should decide for oneself when it is time to end one’s stay. So I bid the profession a dry-eyed and profoundly grateful farewell.”

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I thought I had seen more things with him in them. Still, he's made a lot of people happy. RIP, good air.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Lawrence of Arabia is my absolute favourite movie. Sad to see him go, and a shame he never got an Oscar, although his lack of recognition is only further proof to their lack of credibility.
