Hey guys! Some background: I'm going home for a week and a friend is letting me borrow his army to play with.
Here is what he said the army consists of:

sammael
command squad in crusader
dark talon
2 ravenwing squads
terminator squad
techmarine w/ power field generator
whirlwind
two tac squads

I'll mostly be playing against Tau and I've only ever played as Orks orTyranids, so any advice would be great! I've also only played 2 games of 6th edition.

Thanks!

Is that techmarine on a bike? If so, put him behind the LRC. Have the bikers wrap the Raider to benefit from the Banner of Devastation and drive towards the enemy so you can use the bikers' teleport homer to drop the DW termies on their face.

Sammy is a beast, so you can have him running around solo or attach him to a RW squad to give them skilled rider, so your bikers can keep pace in case the table is cluttered with terrain.

Use the tacticals to camp on backfield objectives and the whirlwind for some long range fire support.

I guess the Dark Talon's intended role is finish its first move close to the Raider in order for its hurricane bolters to fire salvoes, then drop its stasis bomb on its second move in order for sammy and the RW bikers to finish them off in CC. Be aware that this strategy requires perfect timing and massive ammounts of luck to pull off.

Main weakness I see with this list? Lack of anti-armor. Seems tailored to fight battlesuit-heavy Tau, Tyranids, Green Tide Orks or other armies where wounds are abundant and AV is uncommon. Had it been a TAC list I'd have swapped the Dark Talon and whirlwind for some lascannons.

Anyways, hope this helps. Good luck!
