The original X-COM has been ported into java by some clever boffin and is completely playable in a browser window.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

No, or at least its highly unlikely. Its based on open X-COM which is in a bit of a legal grey area as the modders have been waiting for a response from the copyright holder for years so obviously they don't care about it that much.
The java game that I linked to is a 'demo' version unless you own the game in which case it is the full version (and I have had at least 4 copies over the years).
