Hey everyone,
So today I got in some wraithguard which I am stoked for! I am going for a blue scheme using the GW paint line.
Here is what I hope it turns out similar to
Spoiler:

I start with Telcis Blue as my base and I am going to highlight with Lothern Blue (Should I go with 50/50 Lothern Blue/Skull White?)

Now I wanted to use the OLD GW blue ink that I have around my house somewhere but I seem to have misplaced it (HATE when that happens).
My question is what is the inks in the new GW line? Is it the Shades? Would Drakenhof Nightshade be the closest to blue ink? Any other alternatives?

Oh and what would be a good colour for the banner between the legs? I plan on going with a white helmet so should I go white? I just don't really like the bone or karak stone colour
Should I paint the d-sythe grey or what colour would look good?
Thanks guys!

Personally I would use the cloth between the legs to differentiate the squads of DA, So one squad would be yellow, the next white and so on.

As to inks.... I use the P3 stuff, I have Vallejo as well but the P3 is just so much better than anything else I've tried.

Drakenhof Night shade would work. check out GWs paint system for colors intended to work together. I have used it to good effect.

It looks like you are going for Craftworld Iybraesil scheme. The banner I would probably blend from bone up to white, for a white/off white look. Black would also be a good third color with out diverting from the dominant blue scheme.

It looks like you would need guilliman blue + Mcragge blue

I've tried P3 and it seems to be just like VGC but more expensive and in worse containers sadly...

I bit more expensive yes. The inks come in dropper bottles though. In what I have used I like the P3 better because it didnt leave the same chalky residue I got with the Vallejo stuff (weird but it happened).

Well I actually found my GW Blue Ink it was hidden away haha

The Telcis blue turned out a little darker than I thought it would over a white primer but it still looks good. I used the ink to go around the jewels and in the recesses.

My only issue is that the ink doesn't act at all like a wash which I though it would. So I have to use an ultra fine 10/0 brush to get it where I want it and then go around with more telcis blue.

It took about 20-30 minutes to ink the legs and then go over again with telcis blue.
I also decided to paint the d-sythe a dark grey and will highlight with codex grey or whatever it's called now haha

Do people normally paint the jewels on the Wraithguards because I see a bunch of them on it but don't see alot of pictures of them painted as jewels even in the GW examples

Many washes are ink-based, but they aren't the same thing - better to think of inks like translucent paints. If you want to make a wash out of the ink, you'll need additives. Matte medium, (distilled) water, and a surfactant (flow aid) in various ratios are generally the order of the day, but there are tried and true alternatives (like the old "Magic Wash" of ink, water, and Future Floor Polish (Future contains both dilute acrylic medium and a surfactant, already)). LBursley's ink wash recipe is probably the most frequently cited example recipe (5 seconds on Dakka search or Google will get you there), but I've had decent luck just messing around with my own mixes. All you really need is to cut the ink's opacity and lower its surface tension, so even tap water and a touch of dish soap can work, in a pinch.

Thanks for the tips on how to make inks act like washes I will have to check that out for the next model I paint!

Here is the finished product for the Wraithguard - went with a green cloth because I liked the bright colours (probable should have went a little dark because I have no paints that I can highlight that with.

This is actually just glue together because I had everything individually on pins so the model is not completed set.
Any comments and critique would be super helpful p.s I apologize for the crappy pictures can't really see the highlights all that well lol
