So, I am hopefully going to be getting / constructing a Land Raider Ares this holiday season. I might use it in Apoc or escalation but its main purpose is to be a "command Land Raider Crusader" for my HQ and command squad with the Banner of Devastation, most likely led by Azrael. I also have an alternate list that may use it as a transport for a deathwing squad.

So my question is this: What color should it be?

Regular Land Raiders fielded by non-deathwing would be green, however the Ares fluff says that it is a tank constructed specifically as a sort of Deathwing Vindicator to support them on sieges etc. This leads me to believe that it could also be white. It would make sense that Azrael would use a deathwing painted vehicle as he is part of the Inner Circle, but the command squad would be in regular power armor suggesting that it is a raider not taken from the Deathwing ranks. So, what are your thoughts on the issue? Is it even an issue? Would it make sense either way?

I feel green for two reasons:
1) it's not a DW unit
2) (the more important reason) green is more aesthetically pleasing IMO and I also think DA freehand always looks better on the green (then again you might not do freehand)

I'd vote white, with green stripes. Just looks good IMO.

I would think dark green would look better.

Only Landraiders belonging to the Deathwing would be white, being part of the inner circle doesnt seem to grant the white armour, as Azraels power armour is green.
Am inclined to say that Azraels personal Landraider would be green, while a Deathwing transport would be white.
I don't think that anyone would have an issue with deathwing using a green one though, could simply be on loan from another company... other chapters might be much more ready to do that though; the Deathwing are only second to the inner circle and are privy to more of the secrets than the other companies, for that reason the deathwing might be unable to take a greenwings raider with them on a mission without sharing some of the secrets of the chapter with them before the 'right' time.

Also, you might consider that the land raider could be from one of the successor chapters. This opens up grey, silver, red...etc. Since the chapter master is riding in it, Green does seem the color of choice. You might even go with black for the older DA color scheme.

Ok cool thanks for the advice I was leaning towards green as it is WAY easier to paint that white and will really pop when flanked by bikes etc. I will hopefully be getting an airbrush for Christmas and after a bit of practice I think that this could turn out to be an amazing centerpiece to my army!

I will probably try and incorporate some white in there too though f i decide to go that route. Maybe make a door white or something. Here are some pics for reference if anyone was curious.
