If I am using an Inquisitorial detachment as an add on to lets say marines primary and IG allies, how many Inquisitors can I take? The chart in the codex inquisition book is slightly confusing me.

The chart means you must have at least one inquisitor and may have, in addition to that inquisitor, 1 more inquisitor and 3 warbands.

1-2 Inquisitors
0-3 Warbands

Yes, as they don't take up a FOC slot, and the rule states each "detachment" rather than "primary detachment", so it must include allied detachments. It's exactly the same as having a Primary SoB with 2 HQ's plus Priests.
