The Eye of Terror

played in a 4000 points aside team game at my local club, I provided my 1010 point list and im looking to update it to 1500 for singles

I had my allies to deal with tanks and flyers so I mainly focused on infantry massacre and projecting 4+ invulnerable onto everything, both psykers roll on divination to get prescience and then each one goes into a tactical squad while the command squad sits behind the land raider to super charge the bolters. tactical squads form up either side of the raider to give it 4+ invulnerable and to benefit from the bolter banner. in the game I last played I was referred as a waste of ammo as the mission was purge the alien and my IG and TAU allies were easier targets than the marines who simply soaked up lascannon shots.

however next game will have me fighting with only one other player and as I don't know who he is yet I need a general list.

idea being that the raven wings move up wand deep strike the terminators turn 1 near enemy fire support and basically anything shooty and delicate. while they wreak stuff my gunline with raider moves up into range. turn 2 I will be in range and start killing stuff with bolter fire if they get close the raider will vomit famer fueled angry assault marines onto anything that gets near the gun bunker.
this is a kill list as in, I win by destroying all his troops and then sitting on a point.
thoughts people, 50 points to play with still?

I have been forbidden to get a techmarine as no one damaged the raider in the slightest with its 4+invulnerable so discount it from all suggestions

The Twilight Zone

If your command squad is on foot in the open, they are a shot or two away from losing your banner, and your list starts to fall apart. You can lose the crusader over the squad, but even with 3+/4++ and FNP, 5 bodies are easy to kill. You really want to mount them in something, or take an alternative command squad.

I see no point to the assault squad. You can get a 5 man tac squad with a flamer and combi flamer for less, and it is a scoring unit. Once you pop out and flame that is that, so losing the combi shot does not really matter. They also have boltguns, which synergize with your bolter banner.

If you want to greenwing, consider putting the command squad in a rhino. Drop the apocathary, and now you have mobility and better survival. A razorback also works. 3rd option is to put them in the raider itself and have more boots on the ground.

Putting one of your libbies in terminator would give you access to a deathwing command squad, which is far better on foot. 2+/4++(from the generator) and FNP makes this hard to shift, and a good way to defend the bolter banner. Chainfist and special weapon(probably plasma cannon for cheap). Champion is nice but not required. Would require dropping a libby, but one in terminator armor in that squad would probably be a better buy.

Another option would be a ravenwing command squad. T5 with FNP and skilled rider to protect the banner, plus plasma talons, ravenwing grenade launchers and sheer mobility. Put one libby on a bike to unlock.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I would put them in the raider but if I get charged im in trouble as the powerfeild gives all models within 3 a 4+ invulnerable friend or foe, I will be buffing the guys im trying to kill, hence the assalt squad in the raider

the assault squad is there because I have the models and they gain HoW hits and are just better in cc than tactical -plus am finding it difficult to find good cc units that don't blow all my points.

I really dislike dropping a librarian as I lose a powerfeild and the ability to cast prescience on 2 different targets, currently I can twinlink my entre army

it occurs to me I can load up my command squad for cc and mount them in the raider so they fill the assault marine role. is that too risky though?
