If Coteaz is in my Grey Knight Army, does he make henchmen into troops in my Inquisitor detachment?

Both those threads go off in directtions not realy related to this question.
The answer your looking for is "maybe". While the GK version of Coteaz will certainly change all "Inquisitorial Henchmen Warbands" in your army (that means all detachments unless we are told otherwise) into troop choices the question is, although they have the same name are the "Inquisitorial Henchman Warbands" in codex inquisition the same units the GK Coteaz is referring to ? Situations like this simply are not covered by RAW so we have to guess at the RAI. We don't have a good answer for this. One opinion is they have the same name and that's all that matters, another opinion is they have different rules and that makes them different regardless of their name. A third opinion is that rules like GK Coteaz's Lord of Formosa rule can only refer to units in the same codex.
If you are looking to get as many scoring henchman in your army as possible then you can still take C:INQ as primary detachment and an Inquisitorial detachment and get 6 scoring warbands out of the deal. You still be able to take an allied detachment as well and you don't need to take any version of Coteaz for this.
Talk it over with your gaming group, FLGS, or TO.
If they are the same type of unit for all rules purposes then GK Coteaz would prevent you from being able to take any IHW units outside of the GK detachments. However if they are the same unit then you can actually spam WAY more henchmen then before. Take the two detachments as I mentioned earlier, as well as an allied detachment of grey knights. If you max out the number of inquisitors in your army (5 in this set up) and leave GK Coteaz at home then you can take 5 more warbands in the GK detachment and they won't use any FOC slots. You still need a 5 man grey knight squad but you can have 11 scoring warbands.

I was wondering why the links to totally unrelated threads asking a different question was put up there. This question has nothing to do with them.

Probably because they touch upon the very subject the OP asked about. For example, the first link discusses it starting at about the tenth post.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Giving someone random links to where it may not even be mentioned is only sending them on a wild goose chase. Especially if they have to sift through page after page of "yes you can" and 'no you cant" and flaming personal arguments. much easier for everyone to just answer the question in the thread it is asked where it is relevant.
As DJGietzen mentioned, it is easier to just make it a non-issue by arranging how you buy the units.
