Is having an entire army of Serpents viable. No need for a Farseer as everything is twin linked anyway. Only 2 anti AV14 units, but EIGHT Serpents!
Autarch: fusion 80
Fire Dragons: Serpent: SL, SC, HF 255
Fire Dragons: Serpent: SL, SC, HF 255
Dire Avengers: Serpent: SL, SC, HF 210

You're playing with a one trick pony here. Granted, that pony puts out a metric &$#*ton of str 6 shots, but the main issue you're going to run up against is what happens if there's a lot of terrain and you can't move around much. Or you go up against an equally gimmicky list of flyers? Or someone decides to bring some Necron/Guard AV13 to the table?
Too much investment into a single strength weapons platform imo

Actually the list is not bad against flyer spam should kill about 3 flyers a turn between the Serpents. As for AV13 25 S7 ignores cover hits a turn should put paid to that and the 2 FD squads. Remember the main gun of the Serpent is S7, it just also has loads of S6. Broadside spam would be an issue. The 15 Broadside list would kill me in 2-3 turns.

But then people who play with broadsides are noobs (instert lol here).
I like this list reguardless the only thing your missing is a wraithknight which would solve you broadside problem, all you need to do is assault and you win!
You could drop a WS with FD and thats enough points AND with the 15pts left you can buy your autarch a PW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That much st7 will glance av13 to death pretty shortly - trust me from experiance!
This is literally enough to drown meq/teq/av13 in saves, decimate horde, rip apart av12 or lower, clay pigion shoot flyers, bury mcs in wounds, has 2 fire dragon squads to challenge av14 spam and... oh no wait, thats every build in the game!
Everyone saw the possibility of the solo serpent spam when the dex dropped due to the serpent being such a stupidly broken unit and arguably the least undercosted unit in the game.
The reason you don't see it is because even eldar players would feel dispicable and dirty if they played such a list. And they know deep down that if they do take such a list, it would at that point legitimatally show beyond any doubt that they have absolutely zero ground to stand on when defending the rules and cost for the game breaking monstrosity that is the wave serpent.
Oh and lastly - it would take zero skill to play and get very boring, very quickly. We're talking 'Doom' god mode here. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ps. Watch this beautiful setup. I've left it so there is one build I haven't discussed. The screamer star and seercouncil with baron (pretty much the same in principle). Now below I would be very tempted to bet that an eldar player will bring these up as builds that you will struggle with, in an attempt to defend the 'humble' wave serpent.
An analogy would be defending serial killer A because he didn't kill as many as serial killer B.
Hopefully an eldar player will be so incensed at my rant that they will fail to read this bit and post exactly this... here's for hoping.

Actually Screamerstar becomes a turn 1 roll off as I have the range and mobility to kill the star if it doesn't have the Grimoire up. Seer Council again isn't that big a concern as I can drown it in wounds as long as I'm not shooting the baron but that is a tougher match up. Though Broadside Spam is still the toughest match up unless we get hammer and anvil deployment. They put on average 21.667 hull points a turn on the Wave Serpents before cover. Even with a 4+ jink that's about 4 Dead Serpents a turn, plus a Riptide still to shoot!
Though the Serpent is certainly a powerhouse unit it is not the most broken unit in the game. It is a good unit that has some hard counters (Broadsides being the biggest issue).
As for the suggestion of a Wraithknight.
1) Then it's not solo Serpent Spam so that defeats the whole concept.
2) The Wraithknight gets taken off turn 1 by Broadside spam having not done a huge amount (i.e. killed a broadside). Yes he'll keep probably 2-3 Serpents alive for an extra turn but that's about it, so doesn't solve the problem.
3) He gives anyone with poision and S5 fire something to do with those shots which would otherwise be totally wasted.
On the plus side he can tarpit Screamerstar. If he gets the charge and I've done some damage already he can tarpit the Seercouncil.

I've got this painted already but have never used it as my local area pretty much won't even play against it. But, I think it would play pretty quick for tourney play, but you'd run the risk of bad matchups. A flying DP army has the potential to hurt this army fast, but it would take some cagey play to counter it.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Would it be worth while dropping the FDs for Wraithguard then? I'd also lose a DA squad and have 110 points left and not sure what I'd spend it (making the Autarch a laughingtarch?)

You know, i like the list, but im wondering why you decided to go for fragons instead of wraithguard. It seams you are always voicing wraithgaurd to be better than fragons, Why the change of mind?

Dragons are 10pts cheaper, maybe he ran out of points.
In addition to being cheaper they can also shoot and then battle focus away into cover out of LOS which may save their lives.

What about that odd person at the tournament that LOVES Land Raiders? Ramming speed? :-P Cause he can probably pull down those two DragonSerpents with Assault Cannons pretty quick.

Fragons due to points I wanted Wraithguard because they are vastly superior for not many more points.
As for LRs taking out both Fragon Serpents turn 1 I'd be hugely surprised if you even got to shoot at them turn 1. I'm Eldar the lesser races get to shoot at only what I let them shoot at. As for Assault Cannons thats what maybe 3 twin linked 24" range. So 10.67 hits 1.778 glances (if I'm against AV14 the Fragon Serpents don't fire shields until after the Fragons get out) 0.889 HPs lost and now you're probably in melta range. Yeah you do that.
