A tourney I'm preparing for in January. It's 500 points with no HQ required. You may choose to take one and receive a warlord trait however, no slay the warlord victory points are awarded.
Elites
1. Chaos Terminators (3)

I think this may do well. I can DS my terminator squads to pretty much handle anything except a flyer (which I may have to ignore, a Heldrake shouldn't give the terminators much trouble though). Hopefully the bastion holds up, and protects my troops, and hopefully the cultists manning the comms-relay can hang in there long enough to get my reserves in. Then they're off to find objectives if they're around still. The space marines will just hang out in the bastion firing the lascannon and heavy bolter at whatever.
I am worried about intercepting broadsides slightly. Maybe I should do termy group 1: combi-plas, combi-plas, combi-melta, and termy group 2: combi-melta, combi-melta, combi-plas.
Thoughts?

I think they will be fine as they are because meltas insta gib suits anyway and plasma have weight of fire so keep them as they are pal.

I don't believe Bastion is needed at this point level.
Your list has some power, but few models (nearly half of them Cultists).
The Termies take a lots of points. They make your list unique and don't be afraid to use this as it is, but I would drop one of the squads and buff the regular CSM squad. And Oblies would do the same job a bit better with more survability (and price, I'll grant you that).
But if you end up with only one deep striking squad, drop the Comms really for Quad-gun.

Sounds good but IIRC you can only take a heavy weapon in a csm squad if you have 10+ men in it.

Leaves you with 160 points on cultists.
Dont be that guy.
Instead I recommend you turn your termi into oblitz if dont have any. They will shoot lascannons into vehicles, plasma cannon blast infantry, assaut cannon flyers with a 1/36 chance. This will free up points on bastion and com relay to get you 5 more csm. Maybe a adl with quad gun instead?

Give the newly-made Oblits VotLW and MoN, for extra resilience, and immunity to ID (barring Str 10, ofc).
