I played 40k, whfb, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Mordheim and just about everything else I could snag back when I had a paper route in middle school. After the stores I used to shop at all closed down, I eventually got back into comics through a different store, and eventually went back to searching for Warhammer after about 15 years out of the game. Found a great local store filled with friendly people (vastly different from the store I used to shop at after it had changed hands the 3rd time before finally going out of business). I've been playing Dark Heresy and it's brethren, Dawn of War, Death Angel card game and all that (plus just bought Space Hulk on Steam). My friend started talking about 40k while I was painting miniatures for the board game "Super Dungeon Explore" and I was excited.
So now I'm back in. My friends and I are going to play some casual 40k at 550 points. Later this year my FLGS is planning an escalation league, which we will take part in. I used to play Ultramarines, but I got interested in Necrons when they first came out in an issue of WD at the end of second edition. I have nine roughly 550 point armies set up. Necrons (bad army using a high point character to fill in, 999 points in 2e is now about 350), Tau ($120 battleforce bought at Goodwill for $5), Chaos and Dark Angels (Dark Vengeance), Space Marines and Orks (Assault on Black Reach from a con for $40), Eldar (old scraps from a failed start in 2e), Dark Eldar (tons of Kabalite Warriors from the 3e box) and the remains of my Ultramarine army (battered and broken and mostly MIA). Plus I have a handful of Guard minis. My friends are two Guard players and a Space Wolves player. So I'm building an anti-armor army for them I suppose.
I'm looking at starting WHFB again to play at the store I go to. They're doing an escalation league right now so I could get some pretty sweet deals and I enjoy it. Unfortunately my army of choice has been Bretonnians and there's that whole bag. So I'm debating on what army to play. I don't want to spend a lot, so I was thinking Warriors of Chaos for a good tough army that I could load with Chaos Knights and such.
I've come here to mostly lurk for WHFB stuff while deciding to play or not. I've asked a few Nercomunda questions in the past, but resolved to never getting enough players to really get into it, and a lack of miniatures around.
