I've just got to have 3 vindicators and 2 helbrutes. I was thinking of equipping the helbrutes to be both shooty and have the capability to dance with something scary in CC.

How can I fill out the last 1320 points with rubics HQs and anti-flyer/anti-armor?

Personally I'm a fan of using Ahriman, 2 10 man TSons in rhinos, 35 man cultist blob, 1 heldrake, and autocannon havocs. The havocs and drake give a little range while helping try and keep the skies clear. Ahriman goes with the cultists who slog while the Tsons hopefully both get infiltrated to one of the enemies flanks where with clever positioning you can get within rapid fire range on turn 1 while denying line of sight with the rhinos.

The proper response to everything is yelling "Pudding!" because crazy works.

Dude can I ask, why hellbrutes? They really are terrible!

It's an ok model. Not as amazing as everyone cracks it up to be though...

I'm glad you like 'em, but I'm sick of being a punching-bag for people in casual games just because I have a thing that looks cool but can't actually do anything.. So I recommend avoiding helbrutes. You already give yourself a purposeful handicap by playing Thousand Sons, so why make it worse?

They look cool, but here's the thing: Why spend time painting something if it's just going to be watching from the sideline after giving first blood to your opponent? I love my painted FW dreadnought but if I want a fighting chance, he stays in the box. There is nothing fun about practicing removing models just because you included a helbrute.. Which is what the game will be for you should you waste points on two of them. Removing models.

Armies with Thousand Sons as the primary Troops are more effective if they include units that are hard targets: by which I mean units that cannot be erased from play just by getting hit once.

ugh.....

Yes its true, you guys are on the mark about my helbrute feelings. It's a shame that they have zero applications at all...

What would be a good anti-vehicle option then? I feel thats what im missing, and I was hoping helbrutes could do that, but I guess not.

combi-melta/chainfist Terminators maybe? I can't really take heavy support choices with those vindies, has to be fast attack/elites

You need the Helturkey, its a sad fact that it is the best thing in the CSM dex. I would take 2 and have a death star of terminators with MoN on them.

You can even play the Sons with MoN as regular marine troops if it comes to it. Its beeter to make them tougher to kill than better saves as fewer shots will hurt them.

The issue with this list is scoring units and the ability to deal with multiple different armies.

I would suggest taking 10 man squads with rhinos for mobility also drakes are a must.

Drop the brutes IMO they neither excel in CCW or Ranged. For the fluff factor maybe ally Necrons

Crazy thought : MoT warp talons.
Just don't DS them, just deploy them where you see fit. Noone's too happy about 3+/4++ DLC daemons jumping to them.

I like the idea of warp talon bodyguards for my sorcerer leader on a disc. Expensive but would only take five, with or without mark depending on points left.

Stick with helbrutes but swap plasma cannon for lascannons and then swap pfist for missiles. That is your anti vehicle option.

Take 2 squad of 10 ts in rhinos with combi meltaguns.
Screen rhino with mobs of MoT cultists. A 6++armor is funny if it works. A 1/6 chance is better than no chance at 1point per model.

Otherwise i think you should proxy your ts as csm with MoT for fluff and be amazed at making any 6++ saves from enemy baleflamers, or str8+, or ap2-3. These csm can take meltaguns that you need.

I did that with great effects, but with raptors. Sorcerers are not CC beasts. If you want a mobile destroyer unit, add a warlord, as cheap as possible, with brand and jumpack/wings/disc. Max the raptors special weapons. Have fun jumping around blowing things up.
