Hello again, I just got myself a Eldar war walker and I was wondering if I do some freehand on the canopy if I mess up can I strip the paint with lata? I would hate to ruin the clear plastic by doing so if I mess up...

Also do I need to prime the canopy frames before I paint them or what? Also varnish is it a good idea or a terrible one?

Also if there is anything else I need to know please tell me!

Don't prime them! Just wash them in warm soapy water.
In the past I've super-glued a scrap of wet&dry paper to a sculpting tool & used that to roughen up the areas you're going to paint.
I've also painted both sides.
For the sights, water down some paint & fill the symbol.
If you're careful you can even highlight the symbol by first putting in a dot of highlight colour at each corner.
With over-painting, I've carefully used a sculpting tool without a sharp edge to gently scrape away the paint.
I don't know what lata is.
You shouldn't need to varnish the see-through part but might want to hand-varnish the painted parts.

Thank you! Lata is La`s Totally Awesome, it is what I have been using to strip the paint/primer off my models bit if something catastrophic happens with the painting I did not know if that is safe to use.

Try it on a bit of sprue.

Actually using a little future on a clear canopy is a great way to add a tint to the canopy, like modern military aircraft, or to simply reduce the refraction through the canopy and give a more life like appearance. Simply dip the canopy in some future, let the excess run off, then place on a paper towel to dry under a cover of sorts so that dust does not collect on the surface.

If you are looking to just paint the frame of the canopy, masking fluid and tape can help with that.

I have heard of people using Tamyia clear colors, like smoke, or clear red, or clear green, ect...but I have never used that. I typically use ink(real ink) and coat, dry, re-coat as needed.

I do have some badger ghost tints so that could be a interesting effect... Thanks red!
