Hello all!
I am a long time wargamer just now getting into WHFB and 40K. I bought a huge O+G Goblin army(around 4000+ points iirc) a few years ago and a larger sized Chaos force and a buddy and myself have decided to take the plunge into fantasy. I also have smaller armies of Lizardmen and Bretonnia.
For now* we have decided to use 6th-7th edition rulebooks and army books for our ruleset. I have nothing against the new 8th rules, except for the added cost.(i can get large older figure armies used, with rulebooks for $100-150 so i feel it would be crazy for me to spend on new stuff) Also i already have most 6th-7th ed army books for all of the armies.
I have a bunch of ideas on bringing in old special characters into 6th-7th rules, but with the magic systems changes i am not sure....(for sure a better thread than my intro can and will be made for this)

Okay anyways back to intro...40K i am not ahead at all yet. I have an old rulebook(dont remebember edition maybe 4th?) and a bunch of codex from around 2000. Really i am not ready for any battles as i only have 2 forces started so far. I just traded a bunch of vintage Star Wars figs for a nice selection of painted space marines(maybe 1000 points?2 tanks, 8 bikes, 30 marines, 5 sipers and a few special pewter guys), and i have a fairly large army of pewter sisters of battle that need to be finely painted before they see the table. Other armies of interest for 40k for me are the chaos space marines, chaos(double duty for fantasy too) and i think orks.
