Battlefield Four is a huge game, so I would imagine you'd be sitting there for quite a while, since games have to be downloaded nowadays instead of installed through the included DVDs. It makes no sense.

it is impossible to answer this definitively without knowing how fast your connection speed is.
My initial install for Battlefield 4 took about 2 hours. My install for CoH2 took about 30 minutes. I have a 105/10 Mbps cable line which is a fairly fast connection for the US; it's the best package my operator offers.
Of course, this means nothing to you since I preordered BF4 and believe some elements preloaded, and you're going to have to download a lot of patches and maybe the China Rising DLC. And unlike me, you're going to have to get that at a time when your cable network is probably highly congested with a bajillion new Xbones, tablets, and so on all downloading their day one patches and DLC. So, the best answer to this is probably "shrug, dunno".
My advice: if these are gifts and you already know what you are getting, ask if you can have the keys tonight so they can be good to go in the morning; since there is no surprise to ruin.

If you are so worried about waiting for them to install you can leave the PC on overnight.

He could have physical copies....
I have no idea how long they will take to install though but it won't take as long as downloading them.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

physical copies mean nothing anymore, i bought Civ 5 at the store and the ONLY thing on the install disk was the Steam install. i had to DL the game from Steam to play it.

I believe I had the same experience with L4D 2 - my stepson gave me the box as a gift, and opened it, and there was no physical media, just card with a steam key. It's a little fuzzy now but I believe it was that title.

It took me even less than 2 hrs to install origins, buy the game, and install the game. It really depends on your connection and your system. Everyone will be different.

I would think that would be a rarity.

Blizzard titles these days can be found on cards in stores around here, no longer in boxes or DVD cases. All you need to do is purchase it, scratch it and enter the code on Battle.net

Not sure what you are getting at there. I'm not a fan of Blizzard, so I couldn't care less about how they do it.
