So I just saw this movie tonight and I don't want to ruin anything but this is just a fantastic movie. I didn't expect so much but the people I was with said it was up for academy awards.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1800241/combined

Here's some small info on the IMDB if anybody wants to know. I don't want to spoil anything really but a couple of the characters were just so utterly horribly bad. It's a fantastic movie though and one of the ones where you root for the small time criminal. I liked how some people were very gray as well.

So what does everybody else think? I don't want to spoil things so i'll throw spoilers out later.

Easily one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Great performances from the whole cast.

Loved it. It reminds me of The Sting. You never know who's conning who.

No, it's actually loosely based on real-life events. Back in the late 1970s, the FBI did a sting operation that they called Abscam in order to target corruption in the U.S. government, using the aid of a convicted con artist. The film follows the same premise - a convicted con artist team (Christian Bale and Amy Adams) are brought in by an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) in order to take down the mayor of New Jersey, Carmine Polito, played by Jeremy Renner.

I can't say anything about the validity of this article on Abscam given its numerous "citation needed" tags, but it's pretty interesting stuff.

I really want to see this.

Also Jennifer Lawrence is delicious. That she's down to earth and "normal" just makes here all the cooler.

Glad to hear it's good I was worried it was going to be one those movies which gets hyped up but turns out to be average. Cant wait for it to come out on DVD.

Its not the best movie in history but its quite good. You have four excellent actors; a good supporting cast; and excellent writing. What actually happens is almost secondary.

Just got back from watching it. I enjoyed it, but found it was a bit too long. There were also bits where even though I don't have any issues with my hearing, I struggled to understand what Bradley Cooper's character was saying.

Overall I enjoyed it, but probably wouldn't buy the DVD.

I'm off to see this either tomorrow or this weekend. Looks like a great film and I've enjoyed David O Russells previous efforts. Plus it has Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams in slinky dresses, whats not to love?
