5 x warriors (night scythe)
5 x warriors (night scythe)
3 x wraiths (whip coils all round)
Transcendent C'Tan

Going to try this against a drop podding space wolf list on Saturday.

Definitely find the points to make Sky of Falling Stars a second Wave of Withering, probably by dropping a Whip coil. I would also be very tempted to drop the Wraiths altogether, go for a normal Overlord (or maybe a special character of some sort, not super familiar with Necrons) and go for Transliminal Stride over Seismic Shockwave - not only is the D hit better than a bigger stomp by a good distance, the extra movement range makes Wave of Withering much more deadly.

Hm. Have you actually played it? I like the idea of charging the c'tan in. Stomp with the large blast, hammer of wrath, nine attacks on the charge (on top of the hammer of wrath) at WS 6 St 9 Ap 2. The Sky of Falling Stars gives me range. And 6 barrage str 7 ap3 is going to kill probably a similar amount of stuff. Any army playing against the Tranny C'Tanny is going to spread out. The Wave of Withering will kill whatever I can get close to. The Sky of Falling Nonsense lets me kill the stuff he doesn't want me to get at. I appreciate though that your suggestion gives me more D goodness. I'll have a think...
As for the Wraiths and the D Lord, I just want to make sure if he has something that can combine to kill the C'Tan through some unfortunate circumstance before my flyers come in, that I have something else on the board giving me some outside chance of winning/drawing the game. Also, 3 wraiths and a DLord with MSS can kill a fist full of units. The special characters don't really synergise at this points level. Trazyn is good because he is scoring, but if not on the field, he'd be with warriors who are already scoring, Anrykyr (I believe) needs line of sight to use his mind in the machine, as does Nemessor Zandrakh for his debuffs. They can't get line of sight while they are in a Night Scythe (because they aren't really in it). Plus the Wraiths and the D Lord are highly mobile and both good for denial / linebreaker etc...

I have not played the c'tan specifically but I have played with and against Destroyer weapons. They are much better than any other weapon in the game, there's really no contest. I'd say it's pretty much the difference between one-turn-killing a lighter super-heavy and just heavily damaging it. The range isn't a big issue with stride, it's effectively 34.5" which is enough to cross the table unless you have some really strange deployment from your opponent. If you lose the c'tan at this points level before it has had a couple of good shooting phases you have almost certainly lost the game, 1500 isn't quite high enough to be properly balanced around the LoW so you are relying on the c'tan to win games. If you are really worried about getting tabled squeeze a minimum scarad unit in there to hide out of LoS. I know the Wraiths are pretty good, but the c'tan can literally move over a Land Raider and have 2+ to detroy it then completely wipe out anything that was inside with zero saves, just 2+ to remove any model without multiple wounds. No matter how good the Wraiths are they don't compare, likewise with Storm of Fire the raw power of Destroyer Weapons makes them a no-brainer.

Powerful words. And taking the withering whatsit at least once is essential. I can just see situations where when you've put the Hellstorm thing down once and removed all the stuff underneath it and the rest of his stuff is as far away as possible, and as you say the c'tan is doing everything. but be interested to try it out and see how it goes in an actual game.
Dead happy to let you know. And can see the attraction of the transliminal whatsit, just for the extra movement as much as anything else. Maybe see if I can shuffle a smidge... Automatically Appended Next Post: You dont see many lists with more than three fliers, but I definitely want to go second if I can...

Double withering makes a HUGE difference against other lords of war. It is an auto-include along with the slide. You don't really need the big stomp in a worked with D weapons whoever has the most D weapons wins simple as.
Other than that looks pretty solid. I quite like having the D-Lord back up. As stated at 1500 your LoW either wins you or loses you the battle.

I don't need the big stomp, but it is a lot of points cheaper than the slide. And if you take the slide you can't assault..

But the slide gives you 18" movement to get those Hellstorms into range turn 1. It is absolutely vital if your opponent has something with multiple D shots as they kill your C'tan very quickly.
