Wondering Why the Emperor Left

Hello everyone,
So with the recent release of Escalation there has been a lot of hubbub about all the various ways in which the ability to take a super-heavy can be abused. However, I thought it would be fun to make some fluffier Escalation lists, along the lines of what I think the book was intended for. I will include a small amount of strategy with each list, but if I were to build any of these lists it would mainly be about the look on the tabletop rather than the performance. If any of you have neat ideas for lists or just lists in general you'd like to post, feel free to do so. Anyway, without further delay, here's the first list:

1850 Snakebites Squig Herd

Spoiler:
HQ
Warboss, PK, Attack Squig - 100

Troops
20 Shoota Boyz, 2 Big Shootas, Nob with PK and Bosspole - 170
14 Shoota Boyz, Rokkit, Nob with PK and Bosspole - 134
15 Shoota Boyz, Rokkit, Nob with PK and Bosspole - 140
15 Shoota Boyz, Rokkit, Nob with PK and Bosspole - 140
17 Gretchin, 1 Runtherd - 61

Heavy Suport
Big Squiggoth, Kannon, Snakebite Combat Drugs - 215
Big Squiggoth, Kannon, Snakebite Combat Drugs - 215
Big Squiggoth, Kannon, Snakebite Combat Drugs - 215

Lord of War
Gargantuan Squiggoth, 4 additional Big Shootas - 545

Total: 1850

Strategy is very simple - load up all the Squiggoths with boys, the Warboss goes in the 14-boy squad, and then march across the board. The grots camp at the back and try not to be horribly killed while the opponent attempts to chew through 18 toughness 7 wounds and 8 toughness 8 wounds. The Gargantuan is the main anti-infantry platform with six Big Shootas and the two Supa Lobbas, plus the firepower of the embarked Orks - that's a total of eight big shootas on top of the two 7" blasts, so light infantry armies are not going to enjoy getting close to this Squiggoth. The list also pumps out a reasonable amount of strength 8 to help with light vehicles and such, but the main anti-tank presence comes from the assault capabilties of the various beasts.

1250 Tau Orca Combat Drop (counts-as Farsight Enclave)

Spoiler:
Fortification
Sensor Tower Grid
- two Sensor Towers with Homing Beacons - 90

HQ
Commander, two TL Burst Cannons, Onager Gauntlet - 120

Elites
4 Stealthsuits, Bonding Knife Ritual, Shas'vre with Markerlight and Target Lock - 139

Troops
2 Crisis Suits, Bonding Knife Ritual, 2 TL Missile Pods, 2 Flamers - 96
1 Crisis Suit, 2 Fusion Blasters, Bonding Knife Ritual - 53
2 Crisis Suits, 2 TL Burst Cannons, 2 Burst Cannons, Bonding Knife Ritual - 96

Fast Attack
Barracuda - 130
Barracuda - 130
8 Pathfinders, Bonding Knife Ritual - 96

Lord of War
Orca Dropship - 300

Total: 1250

The basic idea behind this list is that the Pathfinders deploy in cover and the sensor towers in a forward position with the Stealthsuits generally infiltrating forward and then the 6 Crisis Suits (including commander, who joins the other Burst Cannon suits) ride in the back of the Orca, escorted by the Barracudas. The army is intended to represent, as you might guess, a forward infiltration team complete with sensor towers that scouts heavy enemy resistance and requests fleet support, which comes in the form of two Barracudas for ground attack and interdiction and an Orca full of suits. The Orca is not carrying any infantry because they are thought unnecessary and unsuited to this kind of rapid assault warfare. This list is pretty weak to AV14 if the lone Fusion Suit is killed for any reason but has a lot of strength 7 shooting and 10 Markerlights with which to make the most of it. Obviously the Orca is one of the weaker lords of war but it's reasonably durable and can contibute a small amount of shooting. The main reason to use this army would of course be getting to see an Orca streak onto the battlefield flanked by a pair of Barracudas ready to unleash a torrent of firepower into an unsuspecting foe.

Inquisitor Jebediah Herez recruits the aid of the Adpeta Sororitas and the Collegia Titanica to quash a tenacious rebellion - 2000

Spoiler:
Inquistorial Detachment
Inquistor Jebediah of the Ordo Hereticus, two Power Fists, Power Armour - 63

Sororitas Detachment

HQ
Canoness, Rosarius, Litanies of Faith, Mantle of Orphelia, Eviscerator, Cloak of St. Aspira, Combi-flamer - 180
Sororitas Command Squad, 5 Heavy Flamers, Meltabombs - 140

Troops
7 Battle Sisters, 2 Meltaguns, Repressor - 167
7 Battle Sisters, 2 Meltaguns, Repressor - 167
7 Battle Sisters, 2 Meltaguns, Repressor - 167

Fast Attack
Aquila Lander, Flare/Chaff Launcher, Distinctive Paint Scheme - 135

Heavy Support
Exorcist - 125
Exorcist - 125

Lord of War
Warhound Scout Titan, Plasma Blastgun, Inferno Gun - 730

Total: 1999

Canoness, Sororitas Command Squad and Jebediah ride in his personal Aquila Lander, jump out very cloer to an enemy squad, flamer the crap out of them and then recieve the charge and fight back. Of course if this was a competitive list the Canoness would be overpriced and the Inquisitor should have Hammerhand, but the sisters hate psykers and I can't see any Canoness who isn't a complete badass being enlisted by the kind of Inquisitor who can requisition a Titan. The basic strategy on the table is to present a wall of AV13 with a big, menacing titan standing behind it and use the lander, when it comes in, to drop a nasty little squad somewhere it can wreak havoc. I couldn't resist giving the Titan an Inferno Gun since it suits the sisters' style of war so well - the remaining weapon is a Plasma Blastgun because I felt a big, strong template would help the list out and it's some nice long-range high-strength punch without being a Destroyer weapon like the Turbo-laser. With movement + an 18" 'torrent' and a 16.5" template the Inferno Gun isn't actually very short ranged at all, and combined with no less than 8 Heavy Flamers, a Flamer and a Heavy Bolter it should make short work of Horde armies. Anti-tank mostly falls to the Exorcists, six Meltaguns, a Plasma Blastgun and the assault capabilties of my Inquisitor and 'retinue', which should be plenty against other fluffy lists. Naturally I would like to have more troops, but I didn't feel it was worth sacrificing an Exorcist and the rest of the list is kind of mostly non-negotiable. Oddly enough, I do actually think an adjusted version of this list with A lot of upgdrades cut and a ton of optimisation might work pretty well - a wall of AV13 isn't an easy thing to fight, especially backed up by a Warhound.

That's all for now. I may post some more lists tommorow - I still have a few neat ideas floating around, but I'm not entirely sure how they would work out.

The Tau list is illegal; you must have a three-man Crisis unit.

Other than that, the lists all look pretty cool.
