My FLGS is holding a small tournament, usually only about 9 players show up with semi-competitive lists, and this one has the restriction for 3 elites. Primary army is Tau, so I don't have a problem taking 3 elites.
I have two lists I'm juggling trying to figure out what to bring. Let me know if there is any advice, something I overlooked, or opinions if you have them. I'm wanting to bring Eldar allies just because I rarely get to fit them in and I just finished painting them. I'm stuck between two lists and just not sure which I should go with. I'm expecting to see at least two other Tau armies that usually go Broadside and Riptide heavy.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

I like the first list better. Although the heavy burst on the first riptide is kind of wasted with all the S7/8 shooting and the two skyrays for anti-air.

If you take the 2nd list makes sure to get holofields and spiritstones for the waveserpent.

Missile drones can only be taken by broadsides unfortunately dude

I don't get the sensor spines on the Skyrays to be honest, I do prefer the first list rather than the second and that's mainly because I dislike allies.

I would personally take Plasma Rifles rather than missile pods they just have more flexibility with the targets you can hunt although they are lower in the volume of fire.

I didn't list missile drones anywhere. I wrote Missile Pods for weapons and marker drones under it. I may be missing something though.

The sensor spines was kind of a last minute thing and couldn't think where to put 10 points anywhere. I figured it couldn't hurt.
The reason why I tend to take Missiles over plasma is just to keep them as a support unit more than full on combat. Missiles work for me because they have good range, shot volume, and the S is good enough to tackle a majority of targets. I will consider the change though.

Thanks for the advice. I probably will try to work on getting holofields on the waveserpent as well. That way I could flat out turn 1 for a 3+ cover, ignore pens on a 2+, then get a 2+ to ignore shaken/4+ for stunned. Should get the wraithguard to their target.
