100%
Out of the dozen or so tournaments I've played in since 8th launched, I've only run into
TFG maybe 2-3 times. (third time was questionable, just had enough of the guy)
A game can be competitive and fun at the same time. If you run into someone who is "hyper-competitive" and acts like every dice they roll is relying on major sponsors and will cheat and lie, then you're going to have a bad game regardless if it's a tournament or a game in your garage.
with me, it just depends. When I play at an event, I try to get a good feel for my round one opponent. I am smiling, happy, and try to be in good humor for the game. I don't argue much, and probably a bit to lenient on things. If my opponent wants to be
TFG, which has happened a lot, then I just concede, give them the game, and ill wait for round 2 when, in my experience, people who just want to play games are still in and playing. Its a tabletop game. I make enough money in my career that I don't need the paltry 500.00 in prize support for first at a mid-level or mid-tier event, and I'm not excited to go play in the viper's den of "Who is cheating now" at something like the
LVO. lifes to short for this crap, and honestly, this kind of echoes why any miniatures game, all miniatures games, will never be competitive games. A simple bump, a small mistake, an over measurement because of parallax vision, all of these things mean that the game just will never be precise enough to be truly competitive.
So, if you are
TFG, go play the way you want to go play, ive conceded in the final tables at local events, and ive conceded in round one for the same. If this game is more to you than that, then by all means, you do you, but im 40 and this is a hobby. Ive got better things to do than to worry about it and let some person stress me out about the game.
