Thanks for everyone's help with my first tournament. I got creamed by everyone but the actual overall winner (He managed to field 2 AV14 Necron crescent rolls that no-one could harm). I had a lot of fun and learnt some lessons (like some huge Tyranids can give birth to many more little ones!)(that seemed a bit unfair at 500points, to keep spawning extra models!). I received Best painted and Most sporting, so I still came home with lots of new miniatures. No one had flyers but that may change at 1k. There was no Chaos SM so I'm hoping that I don't have to face Heldrakes. I've never faced them but I've heard that people starve them for weeks, bring them to tournament and feed them toasted spacemaries when they get there!

I'm still very green at this (pardon the pun). Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

My local store is having another tourney. It's 1000 points this time. Allies and Forge World are allowed.

I've had my nose deep in the codex, trying to sniff out any little nuggets of cheese that GW accidentally left between the pages. It seem like there's nothing overly powerful and still cost efficient. Synergy seems to be the name of the game.
Its tough to have everything I want at just 1k but here's my attempt....

•Librarian 65
•Command squad with Bolters.
Standard of Devastation. Apothecary. 180
•10 tac marines. Boltguns. 140
•10 tac marines. Boltguns. 140
•5 scout snipers with cloaks. 70
•7 Black Knights.
2 grenade launchers. Meltabombs. 299
•Aegis, Quad gun. 100

Totals up to 994 points

The plan was to Infiltrate the Scouts to some cover and try and pick of any Monstrous Creatures. (I ran into them at the 500pt tourney)
The Aegis will house my Command squad and 2 Tac squads. SoD will give 100 bolter shots per turn! Librarian will cast Prescience on one of the tac squads and use his BS 5 for the Quadgun. If there's no Flyers I plan to use its massive range to defend my scouts from afar.
Black Knights will try to get up close and plasma death then maybe charge whoever I think they can take. If there's an unmanned object close to the scouts I may try and get them to take it towards the end of the game. I'm hoping that the Knights can do an early squad wipe for first blood then stay alive for line breaker too.

What do you think guys? Any roster opinions? Flawed tactics? Where am I weak? Teach me!

Even with the Standard, Tacticals should always be given a Special or Heavy weapon or even both. Other than that it looks good. Also if you won most sporting then you are easily the real winner. Good Luck and have fun.

The Riptide can't be a giant death robot, its completely lacking a sword or massive chainsaw. All giant death robots have swords or massive chainsaws.

I appreciate the feed back. #1 I want to have fun playing. But it'd be nice to put up a bit of a fight. I felt like I mostly got trampled on at the last tournament! A friend pointed out that I'm anti armour weak. Any thoughts or changes to be made?

One of the things I liked about the DA codex over the vanilla marine one was that you can take a heavy weapon in 5 man tac teams without combat squading.

Depending on what you want your current 10 man Tac squads to accomplish, you could trim down to three 5 man teams and give them lascannons.

Doing that might not synergize as well with the banner, but its something to consider.

Sekhmet - Dynasty 4000pts Greenwing - 2000pts Deathguard - 1500pts Daemons of Nurgle - 1000pts ~320pts
