Hi guys

What's the most annoying army you've ever faced??

I will start off with today with my tau I faced a massive conscript army no matter how many I killed it didn't really make a difference and once the leman russes were dead I had to try to cut down these masses of infantry !!

And to make matters worse it was the mission were objectives were worth d3 points and his was worth 3 and the two I got were 2/1 I only won through slay the warlord hahah

some are frustrating and I roll my eyes when I see them, these include the doublefareer, seercoucil on bikes with the baron, 3 dredknight, 3 intercepter shunting army and so forth.
In general though, I dont find them annoying, I see them as challenges or puzzles to unlock.
What I find annoying are players and their actions and attitudes.
For example the one who sees my army is fully painted and flocked both to the point where every last models is at "special character" level. Their own army may be painted to tabletop standards or not fully painted. They assume i am some sort of "painting elitest". If I even mention paint jobs, to even compliment them on a detail they did or mention How I like a different scheme on something (you know gaming small talk to be social and to be nice) they cry "painting elitest", drop the game and pack up shaking my hand with some nonsense about not ruining my fun. This type of behavior and attitude I find annoying. To be honest, I dont care if nothing in your army is painted and you have green toy story army men glued onto bases so long as I know whats what and your willing to remind me if I forget and have to ask you to remind me. I'm just trying to be friendly so the game is not a silent stale affair. if you dont want to talk about the hobby while we are playing, bring up some topic of conversation that interests you.

1500 pt Eldar; wraithknight, farseer, and 5 wave serpents. I'm not sure what the troops are but dang dude. I have to choose, let the serpents slowly whittle me down, or pop a few of them and let the knight smash into my line. In that particular game I had some horrible rolling with my two riptides, yielding only 2 wounds in 3 rounds of shooting. But it gave my stealth team a chance to shine, popping the knight in the bottom of 3. This was however my first game with my riptides. In hindsight I should have played them MUCH more aggressively. I will also be using and HBC on one of them in the future.

Necron army thats always like this: 80+ warriors, 6 destyoyers, 2 monoliths, 1 Ctan, 1 Lord, annihalation barge.

I can kill the vehicles with ease but killing the infantry is rare. Always one left that lets them all stand up again. I have pinned necron warrior squads more than i have destroyed them.

I was at a GW painting my farsight enclave suits and a guy asked if I wanted to play a game - I was tired of painting so I agreed to a 1k pt match.

All i had on me was 10 XV8s, 2 broadsides, and some fire warriors (I didn't have any of my drones, sniper teams or markerlights). The guy makes a list on the spot for his DE army - 3 massive squads of kabilite warriors with dark lances and 3 ravagers with night shields.

The game basically played out with me always being out of range with little cover in the mid-field. So if I wanted to get within range to hit anything I would need to fully exposed my crisis suits (with no drones to hide behind). I felt as though the game was a complete waste of time and I was only there to roll cover saves during his turn.

I have to go with someone at my FLGS who, back before the new Daemon codex, would always run 6 units of Tzeentch flamers. Doesn't matter what I ran against them, they'd just cut down everything that came against them with their ridiculous flamers. Guy always got stupidly lucky with his scatter rolls, too, I don't think he ever scattered outside of range (if anything, he landed just close enough to be able to hit 90% of the target squad with all three flamers).

You have no idea how overjoyed I was when I heard that flamers got smacked with a nerf bat, there is no fun to be had when your opponent, on his second turn, drops in a ton of flamers and wipes out most of your army in one big sweeping motion.

(Edit: And yes, I realize the irony of this as I sit here playing with my Tau, but I'll say this much, I generally can't take out 75% of an army on the first turn)

This. Tau just seems to bring out the worst in people (gaming wise). Most of the time when folks get nerd rage, I ask em to chill out, its a game etc. When they rage in a game against Tau, everybody at the LGS gives one another a pass. Most of the bitching about sour games was regarding Tau. The only time in my life I was so flustered that I felt compelled to cheat... it was against sisters. Psyke! It was Tau. I've yet to talkto any other 40k player who enjoys playing against them. I've never met a Tau player who ran something other than a gunline.

To be fair to Tau, all they have is shooting, so of course they are going to use gun lines and crisis suits for maneuver units. And almost every SM and IG unit I run into has an Aegis in the list, its very good for the points so I would expect Tau to have them too. Gaming tables don't have the depth they need to do true fire maneuver with falling back, so people stick their guys in a gun line. Its how to effectively play the units they have.

The guy who taught me 40k's Blood angels vs my Salamanders.

I think between the two of us we lost 4 guys in the first two turns due to terrible rolls on heavy weapons and amazing saves against small arms fire. Then everything died and we wound up with nothing on the table but a scout vs. Vulkan He'stan for line breaker and a black raged furiouso dread against a three man tac squad who had lost their multi melta the prior turn. Both rape trains had no breaks... draws are fun...?
