So I've been struggling to make a Space Marine list that both makes me happy to own and wins games for about 12 years now. Sentinels of Terra recently got my brain working on the project again. I think the real issue is that bolters simply don't get stuff done like they used to, and Space Marines still aren't cheap for what they accomplish, particularly in tactical squads.

So here's what I came up with. The idea is quite simply to shoot things to little bits:

It's not exactly subtle, but then, space marines aren't (unless they're the subtle kind. When are they gonna get a suppliment, anyway?). It's also totally a rough draft; What do dakkanauts think?

Hmmm, I would maybe drop one squad of centurions to give your troops some mobility and maybe an aegis to sit behind for your devs?? Landspeeder storms would be good to grab line breaker and objectives late turns?

Not really sold on bolter scouts. I would drop one of the centurion units and replace two of the scouts with tactical marines (full squads).

Probably drop one of the devastator squads for a TFC. Use the remaining points to increase the scout squad size. Bolter marines need max numbers to be effective and take advantage of the chapter tactics in Sentinels of Terra.

Yeah, I'd ideally like to have a BUNCH of scouts, with heavy bolters even. Infiltrate them up and unleash some sneaky dakka. But every time I upped their squad size, the rest of the list started to look less hurtful.

I'll keep messing with it.
