isoproyl alcohol. I used 99.9% but 70% is probably just as good tbh. Only took a short time in the drink, but i left i piece of finecast sprue in there while i did a shift at work and came back to find it was fine.

How long is a shift at work?

hehe was about 8 hours.

But no ill effects to the bit of sprue or the writing upon it after 8 hours sat in 99.9% iso propyl alcohol.
The paint started to come up with a light scrub using a course paint brush (cheap white bristles from kids craft section) after 10-15 minutes in the alcohol anyway.

It was the only finecast figure I have though; Belial (and im not keen on it tbh), I wasnt that concerned about loosing it to the test, but he came out okay, the thin flap of his cloak went a bit soft and flexy during the stripping, but dried out just fine.
I just recently got a cheap ultrasonic cleaner, might test it out in that... but it does heat up a little which might be a killer for finecasts but not the metals or plastics.

I've used Fairy Power Spray to strip paint off a couple of finecast models - spray it over, agitate with a brush, leave for about 15-30 minutes then wash off using old toothbrush and water. Reckon about 95% of paint comes off fine (usually crevices need a toothpick or cocktail stick on them to remove ingrained paint). Seems to be fine - no damage done to the model far as I can tell.

Pretty much anything. The resin should be impervious to most liquids one might use to strip a mini. Acetone will do it quickly.

Have you actually tried Acetone? Acetone is nasty stuff and will melt polystyrene really quickly.

I'd recommend Simple Green and a toothbrush to be safe. That I have tried and I know it works.

I have indeed and if Finecast models were made of polystyrene I certainly would not recommend it. Luckily they are made of a resin which is resistant to acetone.

Good to know I wasnt brave enough to try Acetone with my Belial, but Isopropyl alcohol 99% worked well. Don't think I'l be getting any more finecast stuff though as I was not overly impressed with it
