What if, as he lifted his blade to kill his brother, fulgrim's soul/mind defeated the demon possessing him.

... That would be epic in fact that would be so coll that there could potentially be 2 primarchs still alive during the 40 millennium working for the emperor (Assuming that Fulgrim turn his back on chaos) and also Fulgrim would be a shining light to all as living prof that men can best demons

Huh, what? Wait a second....

You think it would be showing the big E his loyalty by defeating the daemon controlling him, just before he killed his best bro, and then proceeded to kill said best bro before skipping off into the eye of terror to ascend to demonhood, by nearly writing off another of his bro's and then lastly, once a daemon tentacle nasty pasty, he goes and poisons another of his bro's who happened to be the dude that was looking after the imperium that the Big E built?

Deathclad, you crazy...

Fulgrim already has, or at least its implied that he has anyway and has done most of the stuff of his own volition.

Yes, I think that if he hesitaded to kill ferrus and he beated the daemon then ferrus would find the time to kill him. Ferrus definately hated Fulgrim at that point, and he was stubborn enough to not change his mind. I think he had left behind their bond of brotherhood since Fulgrims betrayal at his ship.

Killing is easy. Being politically correct is a pain in the ass...

Fulgrim was on the path of no return at that point. Even had he finally silenced and completely banished the daemon's influence on him the damage had already been done. His legion was already well corrupted by Fabius Bile's modifications and their own excessive needs for self-gratification. And as others have already noted Ferrus had his mind made up to kill Fulgrim regardless of any sudden personal change of hearts Fulgrim may have had. Nothing short of the Emperor intervening may have stopped Ferrus from destroying him if Fulgrim was too distracted/bewildered to resist and Fulgrim may have well simply committed suicide after realizing that there was no way to redeem himself.

Inquisition motto: 'They don't like it cause the emprah don't like it'

Inquisition logic: "Hundred thousand guardsmen in the area....... WHO CARES, COMMENCE EXTERMINATUS!!! the emperor shall know his own"

Inquisition excuse: "it is the emperors will"
or
"he/she was tainted by chaos"
