My old local gaming group and I used to play 40K back in 2nd ed. Time went by and we all eventually dispersed, so I ended up giving up the game in 3rd or 4th ed. Since then I've joined a new group that mainly plays board games; however, one of our friends has finally convinced us into making Kill Team sized armies to at least sample 40K and see if we would be interested in making full sized armies in the future. So I'm looking for some help on my list and the list of a few other guys.

Nids

1 Zoranthrope

X Genestealers (Depending on how much they cost in the new codex)

Ultra Marines

1 Rhino

7 Sternguard

Dark Angels

10 Tactical Squad
1x Veteran Sergeant
1x Plasma Pistol
1x Plasma Cannon
1x Plasma Gun

Daemons
3 Screamers
3 Blood Crushers

The beginner box would be perfect for playing Kill Teams! You get enough Dark Angels and Chaos Marines to make Teams for either.

And yes, Nids are getting a new codex.

I was considering splitting the cost with someone and letting them have the Chaos models. Are the Cultists from DV any good though? I might be a bit off on my points, but I believe a CSM list would need about 10 Cultists if one were to play with what's in the box.

Well the Nids codex lands this weekend, so you don't have very long to wait. Comes out Saturday. Nids will probably have some good options in 6th. They are due a buff.

Can screamers use USR's with their turboboost move? They seem a bit too weak because of that. They would not benefit and you don't want them in cc.

I would go with Dv box set only thing is a I feel bad for the guy who gets chaos.

You're probably right about scraping the Screamers altogether. However, what should be replacing them?

Also thanks to everyone on the advice of which army to start. I talked with one of my friends and I will be making DA using the DV set. However, I'll also take a look at the new Tyranid codex to see if it can persuade me to restart nids.

This army is illegal, as in Kill Team no model can have greater than 2 wounds (Bloodcrushers have 3).

Genestealers are really fun to play in Kill Team. I would scrap the Zoanthrope for a Broodlord (they have 2W, right?) or more Genestealers, though. They don't need synapse and the Zoanthrope will be a huge target.

I was originally considering a Zoranthrope, because it would allow my army to have some form of range damage to accompany my stealers. (The other benefits, like synapse, are nice bonuses though). I figured most people would try to hold back and allow the stealers to come to them, so they could try and take out as many as possible before they were ever touched.
Since there are no 2+ saves allowed in Kill Team, the Zoranthrope seemed like a nice choice to me.

Truth be told though,I really don't know that much about the Broodlord's benefits to a brood of stealers. Is it really worth giving up all ranged damage to field one?
