So yesteday my opponent tank shocked my Old One Eye with a Chaos Land Raider. I said, what the hell, Death or Glory. I'm S10, I can probably pull it off....Rolled a 3 :(

My question is this: Could I have used a Smash attack, thus getting 2D6 armor pen. I could not find anything in the rules, other than a Death or Glory is a 1 shot auto hit.

yes you could have smashed.

trying to tank shock an MC is more of a desperate attempt than a viable stratagy

Yes, you can smash. It wouldn't have helped like you thought though - Smash doesn't give you 2d6 armor pen.
Just a reroll, so still a 66% chance of not penning.

Yes, you can smash. It wouldn't have helped like you thought though - Smash doesn't give you 2d6 armor pen.

rerolling the 5+ the pen gives you a 54% chance to pen

And only half that to stop the LR from squishing you.

My Land Raider will be tank shocking a lot more Monstrous Creatures.

I remember an Ork player losing his big baddie named Ork Warboss on bike to a shocking Land Raider once....

....he was one of those 'Orks are da bestest, WAAAGH' kind of guys that loves his Orks a bit too much.

Was a great thing to see happen.

How can you use a smash attack vs death or glory? Under Death or Glory it stats you can only use a weapon that the model is equipped with wether it's a gun cc weapon or grenade. Smash is a special attack not a weapon therefor by my understanding you can't use it vs. death or glory unless there has been a FAQ about it that I'd like to see if you could post or link to it that would be great.

You're allowed to make a close combat attack.
The Smash USR allows you to make a Smash attack any time you'd make a close combat attack.
