I'm plotting out a long-term army project. One of the features is going to be a fortification-mounted Tank Hunters Dev Squad (Imperial Fists tactics). Trying to figure out which would fit better: an Imperial Bastion or a Wall of Martyrs Bunker.

The Bastion:
-AV 13
-Higher internal elevation
-Only one fire point per facing if inside the building

The Bunker:
-AV 14
-Lower elevation
-One facing with a firepoint, but it allows 4 models to fire out of it

So, with the bunker I'd get a more-protected unit since it can remain inside the building and still fire all four Lascannons at a target. On the other hand, with its lower elevation, I am largely limited to what firing lanes I have available during deployment.

Points-wise they'll probably end up coming out fairly similar (I'm expecting to include a Void Shield and Ammo stores depending on the actual points limit of the game I'm playing).

Small point of order: I believe Bastions are AV-14 all around too.

That said, your bunker is definitely cheaper.

The bastion is the buy you want if you have multiple long-ranged heavy weapons units that could do with the protection, the bunker is probably better if you have just one small unit that needs the fortification.

I would go with the Bunker. Because it has two firepoints, not one, allowing 8 models to shoot out of it.
Slap a quad gun or Icarus on top, toss in an ammo store, and your devs now get five heavy weapons to blast away with, and the ablative bolter marines get to shoot, too.
