Are Tankbustas usable in 6th even though there arnt very many vehicles on the board this edittion? What tactics can you use with these guys and what can they do that would help the army?

They're good against 3+ save monstrous creatures, but against tanks I find them kinda bad. Most of them are gonna miss and they only have S8 AP3. They're as expensive as lootas but with less range, suck against flyers and have a rule that makes them care about Rhinos.
Against 3+ save MC:s though, you bet you're gonna like them. Maybe their name should be MC Hammers instead.

They are best against Nids.
no vehicles to distract them, and most MCs will be wounded on a 2+, no armour save

As others have said, contrary to their name they aren't that effective in taking down enemy tanks....at least at range. Even if you get the entire group of 15 in a battlewagon they will only have about 5 hit on average (less if you swap the rokkit launchas for some tankhammers) which does meh damage against AV12-13 and barely scratches the paint off AV14 tanks.
They are much more effective in taking down vehicles in close combat with their tankbusta bombs and tankhammas since they'll always hit on 3's at the very least. Unfortunately, Ork normally don't have a problem dealing with vehicles in close combat so they don't provide too much of a buff to an Ork army since they desperately require a battlewagon to make the most of them which, in tandem with their pricy points cost, makes them a big investment for something that pays for its ranged weapons but isn't very good at it.
In contrast to this as others have said they are pretty good against 3+ save MC, which largely come from the Nid's side. However this also makes them quite situational against MC as the MC that are most feared right now are the Riptide and Wraithknight. Against the riptide they are pretty much boned given that the 2+ save (and FNP in many cases) will render most wounds ineffective whereas the Wraithknight will only be wounded on 4's and has a gob-smacking 6 wounds for you to go through. Both also have the range to largely avoid you while shooting at will and can pop the Battlewagon transport pretty reliably, preventing you from getting the drop on them.
Overall they sadly aren't that great this edition and hopefully they'll actually cheaper (or at least come stock with 'eavy armour) and get the bloody tank hunters USR next time around, it's in their bloody name!

I actually laughed aloud at this comment.
Sorry to not add anything to the thread but I had to comment.

I've tried them out a few times in 5 and 6 ed. Better now but since the meta has changed - there are no good targets for them cept for non-flying monstrous creatures not lucky enough to get t8+ or good invul save. And even if all is good for bustas - they still don't have enough firepower to gun a mc down in 1 turn. Also they need a battlewagon and if it's blown up (and it's gona be blown up) there are like 7-8 guyz left struggling not to get pinned and not to run away. If they had some better gunz, twin-linked for example, or some better range or tank hunters at least - they'd see some use.
In theory they're better than lootas vs av 13-14. On practice they're still not good enough and lootas at least have range.

Fundamental problem I have with them when I use them is that I want run in the shooting phase to get close to vehicles and assault them with the grenades instead of the USR forcing me to kite myself at range with poor shooting.
Hull Point system makes Lootas better at all AV targets that aren't AV14. And you shoot at whatever you want
