Not so much a conversion I guess unless we are talking the under slung autocannon and human pilot inside, but I was finally able to get my hands on the dark angels jet fighter this past Christmas.

After first seeing the model way back when, I immediately saw the potential it had to be used as a lightning or thunderbolt fighter plane. I decided on the lightning only because that is the one FW kit I will probably never get where as the thunderbolt is cool enough in and of itself to warrant purchasing eventually. While the FW lightning is cool in it's own respect it just didn't seem worth the cost or wait. Plus I wanted to be a little different with this one. That said this was an easy conversion. The kit basically came equipped with what the lightning already takes (TL lascannons and 6 missiles of some sort). The only thing missing was the auto cannon which fit really well with the ammo plates meant to be used for the heavy bolters. It was literally the perfect kit for this conversion. The most difficult part was trimming down a sentinel pilots legs so he'd fit in a SM cockpit.

All in all, I am excited to shoot some nasties out of the sky with the "Invigilus". Hope you like it! As always, C&C appreciated.

Very nice. Doesn't look like a conversion at all.

Looks cool, was thinking of doing the same for the Avenger [think I'm just gonna save up for the Avenger though!] - personally I would shave off the DA symbols on the back but looks great as is.

Thanks! I did consider shaving off the icon on the tail. The two under the wing were easy to shave off. But due to the placement and difficulty of keeping the detail on the tail I kept it. It also kind of made for a cool looking squadron symbol.

Actually it fits the look and style of the Lightning very well. It's a good option for people who can't afford the more expensive Forge World model.

Very nice. I love this model so much (the Nephilim) ... it's such a shame it's rules are such garbage for the point cost.

Kudos to you for finding a good use for it (and i plan on doing the same thing too, FYI - using a neph as a Lightning).

Thats a cracking idea. Will put that in the 'things to do pile'.

Wonder how easy it would be to extend the fuselage a bit.

Thanks. I actually did think about that. The whole tail section kind of slides onto the front once it is all built. The bottom of the plane where you can see it connects to the flight stand is the base plate which is attached to the front section. The sides are attached to the tail which then straddle the base plate so technically given some time and plastic sheets you could extend the tail about 1.5-2 centemeters. You'll lose some structural integrity unless you reinforce, but it can be done. Only reason I didn't do that was because I didn't have any plastic sheets lying around and hesitated to lose that structural integrity.
