If you're bringing 2 pods, I assume you're dropping in Njal with the Long Fangs? If so, are you using Codex powers, or Divination, so that you can buff the LFs?

I'm not sold on the idea of using more than 2 Storm Shields per Thunderwolf Cavalry unit... They're pretty point-heavy to begin with. My recommendation is use 2 SSs for the 5-model unit, 2 SSs for the 4-model unit, and one on the 3-model unit. For the Storm Shield models, let the SS replace his cc weapon, keeping the bolt pistol, and giving that model Mark of the Wulfen - it more than makes up for him losing that 2-cc weapons bonus attack (and he still gets the bonus attack for the wolf, in addition to the d6 + 1). I'm also not sure about the frost weapon. You've got 4 attacks per model (not counting charge bonuses or the fact that your SS+MOTW model could have 8), over 12 models, all with a chance to rend. The Frost weapon gives one model a +1S (or +2 for an axe, but then you're definitely going last in cc), but then none of those models can rend. Math hammers aren't reliable, but it still doesn't seem worth it for 75 points. With 5 Storm Shields instead of 7, 3 Marks of the Wulfen, and no frost weapons, you've saved 120 points, and your TWC may even be more effective for it. That 120 points could get you another unit of 10 Fenrisian Wolves plus a Long Fang with any weapon you choose.

Of course, this depends heavily on what you have built and modeled...

Even as is, though, you will be chewing up a lot of stuff.

I also agree with zbg97 I think you have too many storm-shields per Thunderwolf Cavalry, i think you should take frost axes over frost blades for the +2 str. more ferisian wolves would help if your going for that kind of wolves theme. the long fangs seem a little pointless if your drop-poding a unit that specializes in ranged fire into a close combat area.

If you took less storm shields could you take some blood claws to hold home objectives?

I would suggest scouts instead of the lone fangs if your looking for ranged fire support, the precision shots always help.

But, thats just me i have had a few years of playing and i mainly play a Thunderwolf list with scouts up front and blood claws to take bullets for stuff/hold objectives.

I realize it's a fun list, but... wow. It's never, ever going to win unless you are playing totally incompetent foes. Take Power Fists over Frost Weapons any day of the week. (I like Thunder Hammers, but that's purely aesthetic.) 1 Melta Bomb per squad is going to accomplish very little. Your Long Fangs are badly equipped, since you obviously intend to splitfire the captain doesn't need the Plasma Gun, and unless you really like Njal's tempest, you'd be better off with a couple normal Rune Priests. (One priest for Endurance (since you want to deep strike them, for some reason) or Prescience, the other priest for either more endurance/prescience, or else JAWS! for fun.)

You've got no scoring, lots of easy killpoints, no versatility, little firepower, and no organization. Good luck, I guess?

Mark CSM,

I am in the process of starting up a Space Wolves army and I am torn between using a heavy Wolf Guard Pack list with Grimnar, or running blood claws with Thunder Wolf Lords. Since you have played for a few years, any insight you could give me a possible 1500 point list would be most appreciated.
