Happy 2014 wargamers,

brand new video here with some greetings to Fritz40k & Jawaballs and my thoughts about the Warhammer 40k "GW-Apocalypse-ForgeWorld-Apocalypse-imperial-armour-rule-books-codex-supplements-digital-edition-and-other-40k-expansions-chaos" - i tried to fix this with my 1st Warhammer 40k Game Types PDF, free at: http://40krauts.de/free-warhammer-40k-pdf-bring-order-structure-to-the-40k-gaming-system/.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueL-gvAB0mY

What are your thoughts about Warhammer expansions and can you differentiate the up-to-date and not-up-to-date Imperial Armour books from Forge World?

Could this PDF be helpful? It's far from being complete or perfect - any ideas to make it better?

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

I don't agree with putting the Imperial Armour books under the Apocalypse unmbrella. Most of the Forge World units are intended for use in normal games, and doing so implies that the various Forgeworld-exclusive army lists are not intended to fight conventional games - which they clearly are.

It's hard to determine exactly how FW stuff fits into a chart like this, but I would say Forge World almost wants a separate sub-chart with the various variant lists linked to the books that originially contained them and a note for each that most are now PDFs on the Forge World site, and each book having a tally of the number of super-heavy and non super-heavy units within it. I would also include notes that escalation and Forge World are technically part of standard 40k, but as some opponents will object to their use it is best not to assume they are legal units.

Currently not in posession of any armies - I merely theorycraft and discuss background,
Waiting for HH Book 6 so I can start an Imperial Army army.

On moon miranda.

FW as a whole shouldn't be under Apocalypse, most of their stuff is made for games straight out of the basic rulebook requiring nothing but the BRB and the IA book and maybe a codex.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

This. If you're going to make a general-use guide like this then you need to refrain from adding your own opinions about what "should" be in the game. Many FW units are part of the "classic" game just like any codex rules (or, if you want to show the "parent" codex they go underneath the codex along with Farsight/etc). And Escalation/Stronghold Assault add new stuff to the "classic" game, unlike like the special Apocalypse/CoD/Planetstrike expansion games. So really your top horizontal bar should be Classic/Apocalypse/CoD/Planetstrike/Spearhead/Planetary Empires, as they're all separate game types.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Well, thanks for the feedback thisisnotaseriousaccount, Vaktathi and Peregrine. You're probably right with the IA books and the way expansions should be organized. Any more ideas and thoughts? Could it be helpful anyone anyway?

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Other than the IA move mentioned above, there are a couple of things I noticed on a quick look:

Stronghold assault- 'scener'- should be 'scenery'.
Apocalypse: '2000+'- should be '3000+' unless that changed in the last edition. Similarly, 'classic 40k' you've got '1000-2000' when I think '750-2500' would be a more fitting range, as there are people that regularly play at both.

Also, not an error but a question: why are the non-SM IOM codexes listed as coming off Codex: BA? Space? I would dividing it into IOM, Xenos and Chaos if you do a revised version, and then listing the codexes and supplements below those if space permits.

It's a nice summary, though, probably helpful to those new to the game.

Hey. I just put it there b/c of the space given - well, should be more readable. Could use arrows and non-arrow-lines (as I did) or at least add a box explaining all symbols

Yeah, I thought it was a space issue. That's fair enough. It wasn't like it was unclear, it was just a visual thing.

You forgot Cypher.

Kidding aside, just getting back into gaming again, and this will help me a lot. Thank you for sharing.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
