I've finally amassed a respectable amount of Tau models, and I'd like to start painting and basing them. The only problem is I'm not sure what scheme I wanna do. I definitely want to keep my named HQ's their canon schemes, but beyond that I'm stuck between two options: a snow theme, painting them white with snow flock and debris and stone on the bases, or something a little more experimental: really lush landscapes, like plains and meadows for the bases, but with machinery and gears coming out of or laying on the ground. The primary coloration for this scheme would be red, because it's partially inspired by Xenoblade Chronicles. I like the sound of each about the same, so I'd love to hear what anyone has to say on the matter. Alternatively you can pitch a scheme you think would look cool too, I might like that just as much. Thank you!

All white could be made to look like Star Wars Imperial Stormtroopers, which might be fun.

You need to work out some detailing of the armour and equipment to give relief to an all-white scheme. It can be hard to shade all white.

Whichever scheme you choose, it would be cool to do a mat or board and terrain pieces to match.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Don't drink and paint your Tau, at least it didn't work for me...

I like the sound of the meadow, with bits and gears in the bases. Snow is cool sometimes.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Yeah, you'd have to be intoxicated to think you can drink your Tau; they aren't even liquid.

If you want to paint them white, don't paint them white. I mean work up from a blue-grey base to a final highlight of white.
