I am wanting to eventually field a unit of Chaos Spawn in my Iron Warrior army but am thinking that a mob of mutated beasts howling across the board doesn't really fit their style.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to model to spawn unit in a more fitting way for Iron Warriors (i.e. more mechanical than mutated)?

maybe use some mechatendrils from the maulerfiend or GS bionics/the tentacles to look more mechanical

or just parts of them. or have spawn bodies on wraith tails

I'd go for something akin to a Junker Hulk in the Iron Kingdoms. This is where a load of scrap form around a discard Warjack's cortex and create a loose body held together by magic.
You can build them out of random bits and get a vaguely humanoid shape (though with Spawn you can go anywhere really).
Here's on I made (I've since made two more). They're dead easy to make and I think the idea of magically (or Daemonically) animated scrap is the way to go.
Hope that give a few ideas.

In the Fluff, Iron Warriors when they would get a mutation growing from there body they would cut it off and replace it with a mechanical component. This might help come up with some ideas for the Chaos Spawn.
I think it would be cool to see a Chaos Termi that spent too much time near the Eye of Terror and is uncontrolably growing mutations like tentacles and what nots, but cant cut them off fast enough to get control, half machine and half mutant. IDK just a thought.
I used an Obliterator which i put the horned spawn head in the neck sockets then added tentacles and spikes to the gun mounts on the hands.
looks some where between machine and biomass now haha, worked for me since its actually bigger than a terminator but not so big as to be "Modelling for Benefit"

if you have had the chance to read Malodrax it describes a few mutated creatures and such at their disposal so as not to say that regular spawn are not their style. But I do like the mechanical idea and think you should run with it. I would even take whole warjack models and chaosify them. thinkin cryx would be a good start.
